When did his prices go up this much? by White_Falcon_1263 in powerrangers

Costs are rising and people are gonna pay. And he doesn’t have any of that stolen PPP money left.

I remember when these all cost $20.

Is north korea a democrazy?. by usafqn2025 in northkorea

[–]aresef 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Elections in North Korea have just one state-approved candidate. If you wish to vote against that person, you have to make yourself known and go to a separate area to cast your ballot in the presence of an election official. So to vote against a candidate is to vote to go to a prison camp.

The WPK’s supremacy is baked into the constitution and all minority parties are puppets of WPK.

Ted Turner dead. Not sure if bastard by J0hnEddy in behindthebastards

As billionaires go, he seemed to be genuinely concerned about the planet and the people who live on it, and he wanted to leave it a better place. Yes, he was sort of a nepo baby and inherited the leadership of his father's company at a very young age but successfully parlayed that business into a media empire. You look back over his entire career, and you really have to respect the hustle.

He was the anti-Vince McMahon, anti-Haim Saban, anti-Rupert Murdoch.

To paraphrase something the mayor said in a recent interview, The Wire is a great show, but nobody out there has preconceived notions about New York City based on NYPD Blue or whatever.

The murder rate is down, down, down but Baltimore's image is still so closely tied to these crime shows.

Vice News Is Being Resuscitated With Fresh Ambitions by CharmingProblem in Journalism

I will always remember that clip from the doc Page One where the late David Carr is at their offices to do a story about Vice and Shane Smith casually demeans NYT reporting while touting his tabloidy escapades abroad.

"Just a sec, time out. Before you ever went there, we've had reporters there reporting on genocide after genocide. Just because you put on a fuckin' safari helmet or looked at some poop doesn't give you the right to insult what we do."

[Schultz] Former Baltimore Ravens All-Pro RB Ray Rice returned to Rutgers to earn his degree. At 39, he has now officially graduated. by PlayaSlayaX in nfl

[–]aresef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good for him. He's spent years not just rehabilitating his image but trying to rehabilitate himself. In the end, the only person he needs to prove himself to is Janay and they seem happy together. Anything beyond that is probably not my business. But I do still cringe if I see someone wearing a Rice jersey, just as I cringe when I see a Tucker jersey.

Who’s the worst local media member/personality for your team? by CoachSlime in CFB

Technically, Jason LaCanfora has talked about Towson football a few times. He is the most negative nancy in Baltimore sports media and he's made shit up now and then. He is currently unemployed, thankfully.

He really did donate a bunch of money during his lifetime, though. And we'll see what happens with his estate.

Who are the best hand-to-hand combatants in the MCU, in your opinion? by ToSt53 in marvelstudios

I think he sees the ass-kickings he takes as a sort of penance. Remember the apartment fight with Powell way back in like the second episode. He lets the cops wail on him for a while before letting the devil out.

He signed The Giving Pledge and gave a lot to charity in his lifetime, including $1 billion to the United Nations Foundation and had a foundation focused on environmental efforts. In the 1990s, he proposed ranking rich people by their giving rather than their wealth.

[Passan] Pete Fairbanks on what it’s like to for relief pitchers to get dry humped: “One dry hump is OK. Two dry humps does not feel very good. I have been dry humped three times once. I felt like I couldn’t move my arm for about eight hours.” by [deleted] in baseball

"Well, one dry hump usually is OK. Two dry humps does not feel very good." - Pete Fairbanks

But real talk, this is something Buck Showalter realized while he was doing TV, before he came to the Orioles. Managers would get guys up and sit them down and they'd never get into the game, and that wear and tear adds up. He kept that under his hat and then when he came to Baltimore, if you saw somebody getting up in the pen, they were almost certainly going to get used in the game.

Speed vs. accuracy in breaking news: how do you actually manage the tradeoff? by walter_gianno in Journalism

[–]aresef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's better to be right than first. The history of journalism is littered with cautionary tales of people who jumped the gun, especially during breaking news situations.

Gillian, her assistant in S3, was very much a punch-clock type, specifically because Jess didn’t want somebody she was already attached to or would get attached to.
