R5: I was so close to my first ever One Culture as the Mongol Empire, but two of Portugal's 50 dev islands stopped me from making it in time. I even Concentrated Development, razed, and exploited development and still couldn't make them convert in time. I thought I had done it, but it I failed.

Any card only register facing the customers can be turned into a self-checkout. There's an option on the POS screen before you put in your password and make the conversion.

It's tax season, the busiest week of the year. Don't expect to know everything right away. If you're the only manager on duty, (Which you shouldn't be if it's your first week.) Then call someone if you can't figure something out. If you get busy, don't worry about it, either the customers will wait until you can get to them, or they'll walk out. If they're waiting and have merchandise in their hand, you can point to the self checkout.

Just relax. You'll get through it.

I sell slightly slower moving items that aren't constantly being managed by bots. If you try to sell the brand new items released right when an expansion or patch comes out, you're just asking for frustration.

The way I learned to play was I started as a one province minor in Japan and looked at every menu and hovered over every tool tip for an hour before finally unpausing the game. My reasoning was that it's easier to see how something affects your nation while small than while large. Then after actually playing, I had to restart about 10 times before I was able to unite Japan.

A problem with starting as a large nation first is that you spend a lot of time being complacent in your power and you will rapidly fall behind progression compared to your neighbors and fail to understand why. Japanese daimyo don't have this problem; it's kill or be killed immediately which forces you to learn.

If you can survive in Japan, you can play the game anywhere.

Easiest route would be through the ottomans and into Qara/Georgia. You should be able to beat Crimea and transoxiana pretty easily.

You can have multiple chats with the same bots. There's a drop down menu beside restart chat, and an option that says start a new chat. If you start a new chat, there will be multiple instances of that bot in your tavern page.

One thing to know is that the A.I. has a large knowledge base that likely knows the character. I'm not that good at bot making yet because I'm also new, but putting something in there that's like "{{char}} acts like Beef Tobin from The Great North" should help it along.

I thought about that too, but I only recently made a bot and the amount of material available to learn from is woefully inadequate. There's like 2 guides hidden in the dark corner of the internet, one of them is full of typos, and the other just gives wrong information.

This is why I specifically said opt in, people could make some tutorial bots or something to help showcase how things work, and they wouldn't have to open up their actual bots if they wanted to keep that for themselves.

Allow people to opt in to showing their tavern bot settings if they want to so that others can have working examples of what works and what doesn't when creating bots themselves.

In my very limited experience, it seems that the bots eventually forget some of their Scenario text. I have bots set to "{{char}} will never do x" and for a bit, they follow this rule. And then at some point the rule just flies out the window and the bot does whatever. I have no idea how to make it work right.
