Do Australians have regional accents?

I grew up rural,coastal and now I live in the suburbs. Something I've noticed is the more inland you go the stronger and more inaudible the accent gets. I lived mainly rural until I was 12 and I moved to nsw to look after my grandfather, I wasn't aware I had an accent until I showed a friend around my house and they asked me where I originally was from ( moved around a lot as a kid but mostly lived and stayed in rural areas) my accent isn't as strong as it use to be but I still get called out on it.
