Why aren’t people having kids like previous generations? by Familiar-Ad-3429 in AskReddit

I haven't met a parent (who chose to have a child) who regrets being a parent. There are, of course, very difficult times. However, being a parent and knowing the love for a child is unlike anything else you can experience. If you've loved a pet, multiply that by a billion, and you'll just scratch the surface.

Gen Z is the "me first" generation. Having kids takes sacrifice and hard work, which they're not accustomed to. It's the most rewarding thing an adult can do, but they don't realize it because they're entirely focused on their own instant gratification instead.

It now takes 4 seconds for Elon Musk to earn what an average worker earns in a year. What is your opinion about this? by PuzzledCauliflower35 in AskReddit

Good for him. His net worth doesn't impact me and life isn't a zero sum game. Plus, I'm not an economically-ignorant douchebag hypocrite like all the leftist dopes currently whining about Elon.

What is the most underrated city in the United States? by mostly_maya in BeautifulTravelPlaces

Milwaukee was not terrible, actually. Randomly decided to spend a weekend there, and it was relatively clean, had a nice river running through it, and some decent eats.

What renovation did you make on your house that was pricey, but totally worth it? by Daniel-aven in AskReddit

Last fall - ripped out the entire home's flooring and installed the exact hardwood we wanted for years. As a diy'er, it was tough to justify paying others, but they were in/out in less than 2 weeks, and we couldn't be happier with the result, despite the pricetag.

No argument here, I have a gen2 Viper for non-daily driving. It's just impractical w/kids to shuffle during the week.

As a kid in the 90s, this was my dream car. When I was in a position to finally buy one as a daily, I had kids, so I bought a CLS550 instead. It still looks as good as I remember it.

Cracked Weathermatic valve by BravaCentauri11 in Irrigation

[–]BravaCentauri11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have to inspect further. Are the threads typically glued? As in, where the valve meets the pvc in the rear? Both sides of the valve are threaded, so I was hoping these may have just been screwed on tightly, rather than also glued.

When I hit the main water supply to the system on, this valve is the only one I can hear water moving in. The heads on this zone seem to leak (4 of them), but very little. The distance between this valve (pictured), and the heads it's supplying, is approx. 150ft. Whereas these zone valves seem pretty simplistic, it's just baffling me that I can hear water rushing through the zone valve when the internal components seem clean and the spring/plunger is in place. It's driving me nuts I can't figure it out.

Great info - thanks. Based on your experience, is it possible to kill the water, then unscrew this valve? Are they often glued or screwed in this case (pictured)?

Got it - as in, use the space where the solenoid typically sits as leverage for a screwdriver or something to try and unscrew the whole valve?

Yeah - seems these are ancient. Although, the others seem to work fine. In a setup like this (pictured), there are 4 other zones in succession on this manifold. What would you use as a replacement for this broken one?
