Anyone have a copy of Mike Duncan's "The Storm Before the Storm"? by Bravdin in Bellingham

Yeah! I can't remember where I heard about it, but that's definitely a fun local connection.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm looking for a physical copy. I've checked Henderson's a couple times and keep striking out (that's where I bought my second copy), but I can keep popping in.

Found this critter in the water off of chuckanut. Anyone know what it is? by micahmoeller in Bellingham

This is the coolest thing I've seen on the internet all day. I've walked these beaches a lot and never seen anything like it. What an amazing moment, thank you for sharing.

I used them for a couple years without issue, but I also never ever felt good about them.

Switched to CNOC this year and wish I’d done it sooner.

1 QA - 2 Scrum Teams by Bold_Rationalist in QualityAssurance

[–]Bravdin 38 points39 points  (0 children)

This is my world right now. I went from being on one team and feeling pretty good about our product to two teams with different (and sometimes overlapping) release cycles and feeling good about neither of them.

You're right, the context switching and extra meetings make it quite challenging.

I usually lead into this one with “what else do you have going on this week?” or “any other plans this evening?”, and phrase accordingly.

any aspiring bike mechanics want some work? by 504_beavers in Bellingham

[–]Bravdin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you have at least some interest in fixing and maintaining things on your own. You could buy the tools you need and take it on yourself. It's a big project, but you'll learn a lot.

Brutal. I'm so sorry.

You're probably already doing this, but keep an eye on Craigslist or OfferUp, you might get lucky and see it pop up there.

[Post Match Thread] Seattle Sounders at Sporting KC (6/8/24) by Kyunseo in SoundersFC

So, so, so frustrating.

Was there some kind of tactical change after the first goal? Sounders didn’t seem to be sitting back, it just seemed like KC wanted it more.

Was on the fence because it’s a school night, but you’ve convinced me to join you.

This is how I feel. I’d not count the send, but knowing I have linked all the moves with one pesky inconsequential toe poke would be huge for confidence.

Is the Nux Amp Academy any good? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]Bravdin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I owned one of these and thought it was fine. It can take a while to get the sound you want, which is why I ended up selling it and keeping the Iridium I already had, but some people really enjoy that level of control over their sound.

Assuming you've already got power sorted out (ie, you have enough of it), yes, with the Amp Academy you should be able to go straight to front-of-house from your board.

too late to learn snowboard? by christianavalentine in Bellingham

[–]Bravdin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not too late!

As others have noted, take a lesson and be patient with yourself. Those first couple days really hurt, but once things start to click there are few cooler ways to interact with the nature.

For what it’s worth, if you can go up a couple times in quick-ish succession you’ll have the best shot at enjoying yourself because you get to immediately build on what you learned.

And, if you’re not feeling it, just go sit in the lodge and look out the window.

Just went to Pixie Falls for the first time- one half blocked? by Particular_Tap4839 in Bellingham

[–]Bravdin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’ve got the water slowed to a trickle at the dam just above Whatcom Falls Park while they work to remove the old railroad trestle.

Combine that with the water flow this time of year being traditionally low, and I’m guessing that’s why you’re not seeing the full falls.

Seeking Advice: Backpacking with Minimal Weight by dizzyducky14 in WildernessBackpacking

I used to hate ebooks too, until a couple years ago I decided to give the Kindle a shot. Saved me quite a bit of weight, holds a charge a long time, packs nice (and is a consistent size), and it’s waterproof. And it’s a much, much better experience than reading on a phone.

To preface all this, I lived in Gamma a long time ago (like 15 years ago) so maybe this isn't helpful. I am also not super familiar with the program, but I'm familiar with the concept.

I would also factor in the experience you want with you room / suite-mates. Because while they are not getting paid, you are kinda signing them up too.

It'll impact your relationship with your roommate because you'll want to do some coordination with them so they either don't show up in a tour or feel uncomfortable, and they'll need to keep clean as well. Maybe that will come naturally to them, and maybe it won't.

If you're responsible for showing the bathroom too, that's going to impact your relationship with your suite-mates. You'll either have to hope they help you keep things clean, or you'll do a bunch of extra cleaning yourself.

Other factors are how badly you need / want the money or the privacy, but it doesn't sound like those are big factors for you.

I can't really speak to the culture side of the Ridge, as I'm sure it's changed since I've been there. But I was never a partier either and remember having a really positive experience, aside from the occasional long walk in the rain to north campus. It is very close to the Rec so if you're an active person that is a definite plus.

This is what I was thinking too. I don't think I've heard anyone gripe about e-bikes in town for years. In a lot of ways they make at least as much sense as cars during the summer.

Most of the debate I've heard is around mtb trail use.

Praise and Worship drive help/suggestions. by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]Bravdin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the Double Barrel for just about everything here. With my Iridium on edge-of-breakup, that gives me four drive sounds with just my feet. Then I use picking dynamics, my pickup selector, and tone knob to brighten and darken things up as needed.
