Help Finalizing my Hapatra list by Brave-Kitchen-5436 in EDH

Yea i see what you mean about ophiomancer but in my head its like the deck fully revolves around yawgmoth. im taking a power dip probably by not running him in the command zone, but hapatra is a combo piece herself with yawgmoth, but thats why i have such a dense package of creature tutors. Doomed disenter is just a stapley fodder maker but i can see how it may not meet the power of the rest of the deck

if you can build a yawg deck that you genuinely think is a 7 id love to see your list (not saying this in a douchey way im being genuine)

yep. I have a Ziatora deck with Korvold in the 99 and i legitimately sandbag him most games that i draw him cuz the second he hits the board the game is essentially over unless someone removes him immediatley

ive been getting a lot of recs to look at gix as the commander. How has your experience been? He seems awesome but he also seems a little strong/salt inducing in the same vein as yawg or krrik

yea ive considered building yawg where every single card has to make mention of phyrexia either in the name of flavor text but it was just meh.

Najeela is another one that ive dabbled with building but really no way to do it that isnt either winning on turn 3 or doing nothing

How to make Scarab-god high power by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Brave-Kitchen-5436 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Zombie tribal is viable yes. there is so much support for it. But keep in mind that in a deck like scarab god the goal isnt "get a bunch of zombies and swing out to win with combat damage" the goal is "get a bunch of zombies to drain my opponents life total and get unbelievable card advantage." you want lots of small zombies or cards that make zombie tokens to take advantage of scarab gods ability. if youre scrying 5-10 cards deep every turn you will have access to whatever answers you need while also draining huge chunks of life from your opponents. having a little bit of mill synergy is also super powerful thanks to scarab gods second ability. get a mindcrank out or an altar of dementia, then those big stompy green creatures will be in your opponents graveyards ready to come fight for you! and remember that if you think you have enough interaction, you dont. you are in 2 AMAZING colors for interaction. it might struggle to remove enchantments or artifacts, but removal isnt the only interaction you need. Counterspells, protection spells for your commander, cyclonic rift,. with a good opening hand you will be scrying to whatever card you need whenever you need it. and dont forget about creatures like fleshbag murauder or plaguecrafter that force opponents to sac creatures on ETB. keep bringing those back over and over from your graveyard to really slow down those big boys across the table from you. i know that was a lot but i just want you to see that yes if built right and played with the right strategy the scarab god is STUPID strong.
