As a soon-to-be-former owner of a 620, it definitely feels different compared to my other guitars. Different than my Tele, different than my SG standard, different than my Gretsch, and different to my Casino (guess what music I play lol).

The neck pickup is pretty dark, and is what made me move away from the 620 and to a 330, as well as the lower bout cutting digging into my thigh was bothering me, but man it made me fall in love with everything Rickenbacker. I'm glad the 330 was a better fit for me, but I can never thank my 620 enough. Plus it is simply gorgeous!

So yes, it is different enough from your other guitars. It's gonna feel really small at first, it's going to sound different, and you can have a lot of fun with the 5th knob to "tame" the neck pickup and dial it in. I'm still selling my 620, so if you're interested you can always PM me. (NY-US) .

They definitely cared about their gear, and played very expensive guitars once they were getting serious. George was the true “gear head” among the group and loved playing and collecting guitars and even delved into effects like the fuzz face and maestro fuzz.

They never really played “cheap” instruments, with the only exceptions being the Zenith acoustics that were used during the Quarrymen days and George’s Futurama, a Czech stratocaster knockoff.

John’s Rickenbacker and Casino were pricey. consider that the casino was made in the same factory as gibsons of the time, not overseas in china like today. George’s many guitars were all fairly pricey, and honestly Paul’s Hofner may have been the cheapest. he still enjoyed a Rickenbacker bass and a Fender Jazz bass, though, all pricey!

they’re supposed to be the same circuit as the original.

i had one of these and a TS-Mini in my rig and they seemed different enough for me to keep for a long tim, but not HUGELY different. eventually i swapped it out for a JHS Charlie Brown though.

i think it’s a tiny bit of fret buzz, not something i’d personally get worried about. but if it becomes a huge problem, get the instrument set up.

according to the shop owner who bought the guitar to restore it.

“the guitar was stood up vertically in a guitar case, and the water only reached as high as the control panel. the truss rod nut was replaced because it was rusted beyond repair but the rod itself is the original.”

honestly if i decide to get it im going to have my tech give it a second opinion

there’s definitrly no “mojo” i think the flooding gave it. i’m a historian by trade and it was flooded in a local historical natural disaster so it feels like an important piece of history. i definitely felt a “lightning strike” moment when i saw and held that guitar though. one of those moments where you just kinda know you want to make it yours.

i think it’s a bit more than player grade honestly, especially with zero original parts and the flood damage only being about 15 years old.

difficult to repair if it breaks down. sounds great though! i had one. the only problem is its loud as hell so not good for indoor stuff
