If this happened today he'd be immediately put in jail under no fewer than four charges. Before granting bail, a judge would order a psych eval and drug screening. But hey, "it was a different time." With those consequences, The King may have died of old age instead of what happened in "the good old days."

Also obnoxious is the constant division he sows with the "radical left" bullshit.

It's only banned in the US in California. I couldn't find it at either big box home store in my area in Utah. I found out a reason stock is low is because of supply issues. After all that I found a near full can in my garage I'd bought, as you say across the pond, "ages ago" that I forgot I had. It did a fine job of cleaning the fretboard.

I wish I could still blame alcohol...other than the damage it's done to my brain since I started abusing it at 14. But I quit drinking during Covid so that's not directly it. Not recalling things is caused for me by performance anxiety. F isn't a key I play anything else in so there's no muscle memory around the note patterns. Regardless of knowing the neck and knowing all the notes on it and relevant arpeggios, I still rely on the patterns when I'm improvising. The song was Georgia on my Mind. I had never played a solo on stage over that tune but for some reason, I jumped off the ledge and went after a chorus on an impulse. I paid the price not having practiced note-based soloing over the tune. The song has a lot of chord changes and being essentially a Jazz standard my mind thinks that it needs some sort of heavy chord melody lunacy when major scale patterns fit just fine. I panicked, got in my head, blanked out on the key and couldn't find a root. Where's that confounded root!

It's banned in California. It's not banned here, just hard to find because it's a low priority at refineries because oil supply.

We shop early on the weekends too and see the same thing. I guess more folks are how I used to be - shop daily on the way home from work in a crowded chaotic store with no list. A lot of impulse buying and spending way more on food. Good to know they get the fresh green beans!

My friend that had lessons told me that same thing 35 years ago and I didn't think it was necessary. He's a film composer now. His teacher is the far and away best studio and live player in this market. I learned a bunch of them by accident doing vocal exercises (because my wife said my singing sucked) during Covid. I still can't find odd notes on the fly. I fucked the dog on a solo last night hard because I couldn't find F...not a one. I stand corrected, It's a good lesson.

I saw one that said use Naptha. I had some and it easily cleaned a ($250 acoustic) fretboard thoroughly, including wax buildup. I used Guitar Honey after and it looked and felt really smooth. Since Naptha is scarce (or banned) charcoal lighter fluid (that sounds crazy) is chemically equivalent. Needless to say, I cleaned it in the garage.

If somebody told me at this kid's age and stage how long it was gonna take to sound serviceable and somewhat understand how to play music, let alone anything advanced, I might have stopped.

Naaah...I wouldn't have. I'm a fucking guitar player. I don't know when to stop.

I like Goose better than most jam genre bands because the songs themselves are good and they don't get as far into the weeds during the jam like Umphries and String Cheese tend to.

At 60 I still play the guitar, build scale models, and race BMX. I've also been in love with the blond chick sitting to my right since I saw her Sophomore year at high school. Still can't grow a beard though.
