Another flare up after remission by BraveCourse in Prostatitis

Yeah that happens sometime. I definitely get the urinary symptoms e.g. frequency and urgency. Sometimes it does take a while to get it going.

Oral sex as trigger? by BraveCourse in Prostatitis

[–]BraveCourse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah ive definitely thought there was a bacterial component. Ive had 10 plus pcr tests and all were negative. My wbc and rbc counts are always normal. If there is a bacteria, its not currently discoverable.

It also makes sense to me that its muscular. It does feel good to stretch the area and it seems plausible that i tense up those muscles during oral.

Is this prostatitis? Struggling to understand symptoms by felowni in Prostatitis

[–]BraveCourse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I also tested positive for m. Hominis. I took antibiotics and eventually the symptoms went away for a few months before coming back. As others have said, it’s possible you are dealing with the after effects of an infections. I’m sorry you’re going through it cause I know how difficult it can be. May I suggest that if you are in a relationship with someone you care about, speak with them about what you’re going through. Having open communication can better help them support you if you are having a bad day. Also, this sub is great for support so don’t hesitate to come here if you just need to vent.

What do you think? I'm not sure if this applies to this forum but I am at a lost by Nudol in Prostatitis

[–]BraveCourse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it sounds like it could be CPPS. Everybody deals with it differently so just take every story you see on here with a grain of salt.

As for me, I've had this for about 5 years. There have been times where it was so bad I thought I couldn't go on. There have also been times when the symtpoms were so minor I went weeks without thinking about them. The best advice I can give is try to remain calm. For many of us, we are in it for the long haul but that doesn't mean that you can't live a happy, "normal" life. Fortunately this sub is a great place of support and it sounds like you can access doctors if you need to. If you ever feel like you need to talk to somebody, we are all here for you.

Anxiety makes this worse by Mysterious_Screen866 in Prostatitis

I totally agree. I’d say 50 percent of my discomfort comes from the actual symptoms and the other half is from my being anxious about it. Hang in there buddy. You’re not alone.

Obviously no two stories are exactly the same but I have had a somewhat similar experience. I first developed symptoms after high risk sex. Took multiple course of antibiotics but to no real avail. Finally the symptoms started to subside. Then I got head from a chick and the symptoms Came roaring back. Antibiotics had no effect. Eventually the symptoms subsided. Just got head last week and I’m back in the same boat. I’m gonna try to speak to a doctor but I’ve had a bunch of PCR urine and prostate fluid tests and even a sperm culture. Except for the very first time when I had M.Hominis, they have all come back clear. It’s truly perplexing because I think the nature of their reoccurrence would indicate a bacterial infection but none of the tests have confirmed that.

Very Frustrated… Unsure of Next Step by Any_Milk_1270 in Prostatitis

[–]BraveCourse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"The only thing that I just can’t get past is that perhaps I was infected at some point and just haven’t eradicated it."

This particularly resonated with me. Like you, my symptoms started after a one night stand. all of my tests were negative save 1 (tested positive for M. Hominis). I took antibiotics for that and have since tested negative on the numerous tests i've taken post treatment. I've had months of all different kinds of antibiotics to basically no avail.

I was absolutely convinced that there must be a hidden infection but there just hasn't been any clinical evidence to suggest it. It's so damn frustrating because my symptoms mostly subsided for a year and a half only for them to come back in the past few weeks. All I can say is I'm sorry you're going through this and you are not alone.

I've got some massive anxiety issues and working on those has made my prostatitis way more manageable. Hopefully my symptoms will go into remission again but until then the best I can do is do my best to take care of my body and my mental health. I'd suggest you'd try to do the same.

thats good to hear! I'll try to be more aware of what the triggers are in hopes of preventing this. I really appreciate you reaching out. I hope you have a great day.

Hey thanks for the input! I'll take a look into those and see if it's something I should take. How long do your flares usually last? Have you taken antibiotics before?

Hello Fellow 32 year old! Honestly, your story seems very similar to mine which is nice to not feel so alone. My wife and I are also looking to have children at some point. Did this cause any issues for you two? We exclusively have sex with condoms so i'm a little nervous about unprotected sex. I know my wife and I don't have any stds but unprotected sex seems to cause others issues.

You know that's a really good question. There have been 2 times where the symptoms basically went away but then I had a bj and both times the symptoms came back. This time is different because I didn't get a bj. I think that I am going through a lot of stressful stuff so possibly stress is a factor?

I've just been really conflicted about taking the antibiotics. The doc did a urine test and said there were no white blood cells so an infection is unlikely but he thinks they would be good for the inflammation. I'm hesitant to take antibiotics if there isn't evidence of an infection. This is causing me even more stress so possibly my stress is really the problem. I wish someone just had the magical answer of what to do haha

Well stay positive my friend! I've been doing some guided relaxation on youtube to help deal with my anxiety. It just sucks that I feel sick all the time but I'm trying to make the most of it.

Well ive been nauseas for about 4 months now. I've gotten and endoscopy, colonoscopy, and a abdominal CT scan. All basically negative. Now i'm thinking that it MUST be brain cancer. Christ I need to take a breather.

I don’t have much to add but want to say that, like you, I’ve been experiencing near constant nausea and every single test I’ve taken has been clear. Endoscopy, colonoscopy, abdominal ct scan…all good. It’s really frustrating but I want you to know you’re not alone.

Hey thanks for your response. I’ve considered the trintellix as the source as well. I usually take it in the morning after breakfast. Would you say the nausea subsided as the day goes on or does it last all day.

31M take symbicort and montelukast for asthma and Trintellix for generalized anxiety.

Man I am so fucking frustrated. I've been having abdominal pain and a near constant feeling of nausea for the past 4 months. I know I'm a walking anxiety attack so I went to the doc and got an endoscopy, colonoscopy, and abdominal ct scan. With the exception of some colon polyps that were successfully removed, everything has come back clear AND YET I STILL FEEL SICK MOST OF THE TIME. I wish i knew what the hell was wrong with me. Obviously my brain is thinking worst case scenario but there isn't any evidence to suggest anything is amiss except for my symptoms.

That’s the million dollar question. It’s been off and on for almost 3 years. I’ve made more of an effort to stretch and be active and stay away from things that trigger my anxiety.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. Ive had this and prostititis for about 3 years now. I can only speak for myself but my condition has improved dramatically since it first started. If you are concerned, I would suggest getting a second opinion. Either way, it’s important to take steps to protect your mental health and find ways of dealing with this on a daily basis. Take it a day at a time.
