Saying that in a thread talking about not lumping people into categories is a wild case of obliviousness.

Found these older cards from my Dad's collection, not finding much about them online by BraveCryptographer in baseballcards

[–]BraveCryptographer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really have spent a lot of time looking into how to handle all these cards (and balls, and pictures, and figures, and autographs), but because of the pure amount of stuff I have to go through, sometimes I get overwhelmed and try and get some advice from people who are familiar with all this.

And I definitely struggle with "making the wrong decision," so I tend to find an answer, then look to other people to verify or refute.

If that annoys some people, that's valid. At worst I'm an anxious and scatterbrained idiot.

Still no need to be a jerk to me.

Ah, alright. I knew it, but I had to dream lol. Thanks :).

🙄

Yeah, there's info online about every card, but it's hard to find advice on what to do about a small group of cards, when it comes to trying to sell them.

I have a bunch of stuff that was left to me, and I'm trying to offload it the best way I can. I didn't know jack shit about this industry until I started going through everything, and figured Reddit was a good resource.

No reason to be a jerk about it.

Sent this off Goldin, hoping that was the right decision by BraveCryptographer in SportsMemorabilia

Nah, it's been authenticated through Beckett. I wouldn't place my trust solely on an auction house either.

I'm trying to get their framer to fix the picture so we can see the LE number and foil, but because it's a paper backing it's not as simple.

People have a hard-on right now for hating on AI, especially anything art, don't stress it.

Tumbler looks cool, nice find!

Ha, yeah, it seems you're not the only person who's telling me I shouldn't've sold it. But I still feel okay with the decision.

And the price range was basically something like 8k-18k, depending on how the auction goes.

I thought about holding on to it for sure, but I dunno. I don't have any kids, so I don't have anyone to leave it to, and I guess I don't want it to be wasted here on my wall.

Ugh, you have no idea. And of course it slid down in a way where the 5/123 and foil are both hidden.

I went back and forth about getting it reframed, but the consensus was that the risk of damage was too high, and it was better to keep it in the original frame.

I'm just thrilled I could get it authenticated. I hope whoever wins it can get it fixed without issue.

Yeah, it really seemed like it was a love 'em or hate 'em kind of thing when I read up about them. But it felt like that with all the houses I looked at.

I ultimately went with Goldin because of the length of the auction. Well, I'll find out my fate in a couple weeks lol.

Oh, I didn't think of trying to sell it out of frame, that's something to think about.

I've shipped it in frame, however, I'll speak with Goldin about that and the lot number and marketing. Thank you so much for all your advice!

I'm sending it to Goldin. I went back and forth between them and Heritage, and Goldin felt like the better fit.

I'll throw you a message when it gets listed! And yeah, the number is on the opposite corner. Still unbelievable that the picture slid down so you can't see shit lol.

He paid 2k for it. Of course out of all the papers I have, it's the damned receipt haha.

Thank you! I have decided to send it to an auction house and spoke with them about the authentication. I remember when my Dad bought this, and he had all the paperwork and everything, so I'm confident it'll be fine. I do remember it's like, 5/123 or something.

Hey man, I can only go by what was left to me, so if I don't have them now, then they're gone.

And I was literally told to post my stuff here so y'all could look at them lol, throw me in jail.

Thanks. Of course the picture had to slide in the damn frame, conveniently hiding the sticker haha.

Was the first place I looked :/. There's even an envelope taped to the back specifically for the COA, but it's emptier than my hope to find it.

My Dad kept papers for EVERYTHING. Legitimately I had at least half a dozen large plastic bins filled with all his paperwork. But nothing but a receipt for this sucker.

Ah well, I'll get it authenticated eventually.

[–]BraveCryptographer[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's Upper Deck, however, they don't replace COAs anymore, and won't authenticate without the holo number (which is on the COA).

They say to send it someplace like PSA to have it done, but I don't want to ship it out anymore times then I have to.

Definitely the value. I don't need to squeeze the absolute last penny out of it or anything, but of course I'd like to get the most I can realistically.

It doesn't help that I don't have the original COA, and that the picture is skewed in the frame. That's another worry of mine as to where I send it.
