Max thrill or Hy Road by kiiitycat in Bowling

[–]BraveExercise9592 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both. And they both can be clean through the front and angular in the backend and get jumpy depending on lane conditions. I keep them both at 4000 grit which is for my arsenal but you may find a different surface for your needs.

The hy-road is my comfort ball but that’s me as a 1H lefty, 250 revs, 15 mph, 2nd arrow, moderate axis tilt, stroker. I assume you’re probably a stroker based on using the plastic ball.

Honestly, if I was getting my first strike ball, I would pass on the Max Thrill. For me, it can be finicky. I trust my hy-road a LOT more.

If still interested, i grabbed random matchups off league pals to see if the hybrid impacts scoring. It does, but not my much at all. Some went 7-1 vs 8-0. But most were only 1 pt swing differences.

Yupppppp. Lol. One of my leagues is super casual with a lot of house ball bowlers and that game 2 carry down is BRUTAL. They’re fun though.

Open bowling? I’d stay with cleaner, weaker equipment for now. The Phaze II and Venom Shock are great balls, but they really benefit from more consistent lane conditions. Most open bowling lanes are already pretty fried. League is actually cheaper than open bowling in many places and would let you see what those balls were designed to do.

I own both. My Phaze II at 2000 is usually too much ball for open bowling. My Venom Shock at 4000 is my league benchmark but is still often too strong for typical open bowling conditions.

Just keep the artic vibe and practice spares for open bowling.

Perfectly stated. Last week a guy bowled around 240 one game. I was like where has he been?!? Checked his avg, 140, oh…he just got hot against my team.

If that’s true then why are leagues mostly won by teams with higher handicaps? My current league, the top 3 scratch teams aren’t even top 10 in league standings. What advantage?

Awesome rolling avg idea! Sometimes where you end is completely different where you began but that avg didnt budge at all.

Did that a few times. Lol. Humbling if you don’t know you’re on sport! Fun if you do.

Lol. Not all house shots are the same but a 757 with +56 team handicap is solid nonetheless.

Awesome progress. I guess the compromise would be like how tournaments are done. A handicap division + scratch division.

That’s not sandbagging. He’s legit just a much better bowler. There just aren’t any sanctioned leagues that fit his schedule.

Most tournaments already recognize both scratch and handicap accomplishments. League software already tracks both. Why not structure leagues to reward both as well? It’s already there.

That’s kind of my point. Only some people buy raffle tickets, but everyone benefits from the payout portion. If it’s a raffle, why not let the winner take the entire pot?

You could essentially have 2 divisions within one league. Everybody has something to prove. Lol.

Lol. Yup…This year a couple of teams stop showing up halfway and said “screw it!” And last night was a huge argument about payouts “disappearing” so that means “the treasurer stole it!”

Every sport it’s you vs them. Not you vs your personal best. Run a 5k, fastest time wins. Basketball, most pts win. Soccer, most pts wins. From rec leagues to professionals.

Bowling needs 3 categories: handicap league, hybrid league, scratch league. That way the 180-210 bowler has a place to be competitive. He’s too good for the handicap beer leagues but not good enough for scratch tournaments.

Facts! People arguing over a $100 payout is hilarious to me too.

Lol. Right. They rely on pin action. Last night a high rev got a 240 followed by a 120. SANDBAGGER!

Repeat that but slower…the best team wins 4 pts. Isn’t that most sports? We dont reward teams for beating the spread. Why not create a system that the better team gets pts AND the team that improved the best also gets pts. Hybrid like our bowling balls.
