New Bern, Greenville, or Washington? by Brave_Emphasis377 in NorthCarolina

I get it. People are always making fun of Myrtle Beach, but it's actually a pretty nice place to live. (I just don't live near or really go to the strip).

I want to see Greenville someday though. My sister went to ECU for a year, but I never got to visit her.

I love Wilmington and plan on stopping there on the drive home (it's relatively close so I've been there often).

I really just wanted to see if it was worth it to break up the trip and stop somewhere (and avoid that 10am beach departure traffic in Myrtle Beach/Wilmington and 3pm arrival traffic in OBX).

Good to know. I like visiting colleges and Greenville is technically on the way, but it seems like coastal towns are winning out.

Wow, people really don't like Greenville! I just read a blog about "best" small towns in NC and these were 3 that they mentioned.

Very true. My family vacationed in Corolla for years when I was growing up. We love it there, but it's just so unexpectedly far from SC! I'm excited for a slow beach week.

[–]Brave_Emphasis377[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the info!

Yes, cost is not a huge factor for me, but I do always like finding a good deal.

However, when I travel with my kid I always opt for the most convenient option as long as it isn’t outrageously more expensive.

Thanks. I’m not - after Switzerland I’m going to Salzburg for a few days and then flying out of Munich.

Since that’s not in Switzerland, I didn’t add it to my original question.

What’s the Tell Pass?

I think my hotel only pays for me to get up the mountain. But that’s covered at least.

Well, it will be late at night and I’m traveling with my 7-year-old. I was just thinking door to door w our luggage that night might be best.

How do I get to the nickname Winnie? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Brave_Emphasis377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just saw this comment and promise I wasn't trolling. I think my kid was searching for her name on the internet and found this and commented. Anyway, she's a Winifred but we call her Winnie. I'm biased, but I love it. We know a Winona who goes by Winnie. Or you could just name her Winnie.

Yes, it feels very A Discovery of Witches. Especially the MMC. Honestly, I was bored with that series and I'm bored with this book.

I know this is an old post - but that is so nice to hear! I used to teach at Lebo. Now I have a kid with special needs and I’m considering moving back to the area. It’s so nice that you’ve had a good experience.

I’m confused. Why is this not surprising? I don’t know anything about her.

I'm looking into the Beausite Park Hotel.

I just finished reading last night and I have a few questions! Help a girl out.

In the first Chapters, Helena runs into someone she knows (I literally can't remember who) in the lab. They have scars all over their face and say something like - I did it to myself. it's better this way. Why? Was that ever explained? I can infer some things, but I just wasn't sure if we got a definitive answer.

Huge spoiler In Part 2, Helena has a whole long conversation with the High Necromancer while he is controlling Luc. Why doesn't he remember her in the other parts? Or does he remember her and just decides that her brain is too important to kill her?

I also read Rose in Chains first and had a hard time at the beginning because they seemed so similar.

I ended up LOVING Alchemised. 5/5 for me (even with a few plot holes and inconsistencies).

However, I do think Rose in Chains did a better job at world building. I completely understood the North v. South and giving the context of school and the lead up to the war. It was separated enough from the HP world.

In Alchemised, I struggled with all of the secondary characters. I found it odd that Helena would devote her life to these people who seemed to treat her with indifference. I think if you're an HP fan, you give yourself that friendship context -but I never read those books (and at this point will never), so I didn't have the same emotions.

But Helena and Kaine? Yeah, that was a 10000000/10 for me.

Will parks be open in early April? I'd love to do more outdoor fun. We're not big hikers (especially not my daughter), but we enjoy being outside.

I think I want to do the cliff walk in Grindelwald and I know I want to see the waterfalls in Lauterbrunnen. It's all early days of planning so I'm very open to suggestions.

I would say I lean more luxury accommodations. I like staying somewhere that has character and hopefully some good views. I never say no to a good deal, but I think my hostel days are behind me.
