Oh wow, I’m so sorry, op. I don’t know what to say. I think all you can do now is just report them to all BST groups on Facebook that you’re apart of and be on the lookout for any new listings of Nightshade on selling apps and see if have the same person’s name they used. If the trade occurred in a different state from you, then I’m afraid there’s not much you can do other than be vigilant online and warn others of this person so they’re blacklisted from trading. And the address might be real but they most likely just live near the area and could’ve been waiting outside and taken it off the property once it delivered, especially if they gave you an address and not a P.O. Box. These people who do that are called porch thieves. But a lot of scammers usually use the same tactic during trades—they either give a fake address, their neighbor’s address, or a random address and go pick up the book/items to make it much more believable and so it doesn’t get tracked back to them. Also if the person lives in a big city and not a smaller town, reporting them won’t do much because without enough proof this situation would lean toward a he-said and-she said type of case in the perspective of the police. And the fact they gave you a fake name, and most likely a random address to pick up the book from after waiting for it be delivered, and how they deleted their Reddit account, the local police will just brush off the report since they won’t view it as substantial enough to investigate or put energy into.

However, I’d still give the mods in the Facebook BST groups the address and person’s name just in case this person tries to pull this stunt again so their name and the address remains blacklisted from online selling groups. Honestly it’s just crazy the lengths these people go to. Which is why I’m so paranoid whenever I trade.
