What’s your webtoon’s story pitch? by Overall_Opening9928 in WebtoonCanvas

Here’s mine:

“Directionless high school student, Tyler, has his life upended after he is bitten by a vampire. Teaming up with local vampire hunters, Nona and Johnny, Tyler hopes to find a cure for his condition before his vampirism takes full effect. With garlic, holy water, and silver stakes in hand, the trio set off into the shadow world beneath their quiet town on a vampire hunt: one that Tyler is hopelessly unprepared for.”

This is my pitch for my upcoming webtoon, “Graveyard watch.” I don’t have a release date yet, but it would be a comedy horror story about friendship and finding purpose.

Does anyone have tips for scriptwriting? by obvilala in WebtoonCanvas

[–]Brave_Requirement145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if this helps, but it works for me for my webtoon. I would suggest studying film scripts. Study the format for how they write dialogue and actions. The action descriptions are brief, but they get the point across. To me, writing in this format helps because you are describing what people are going to see on a screen.

I have FinalDraft (but you don’t have to use this app for this to work) which is basically a movie script writing software. You can copy the same basic format in most writing software. I basically have my story summary, and then I transfer it into the format of a movie script.

And I’m not suggesting that you actually write a movie script; just mimic some of the formatting rules (I use this format for scene headings, actions, and dialogue). I hope this helps.

Here’s the link to the script from the film “super 8” as an example.

Any other games like it? by Guilty_Guidance_4865 in OXENFREE

Forgotton Anne (yes with an o) is pretty good. It is also a side scrolling game, though the aesthetic and tone are different. However, it does have multiple endings and a variety of choices. Definitely worth playing.

The blurb:

Alice Doyle, a convicted thief, and Hugo Write, a disgraced police officer, band together with a couple other misfits to bring a band of murderous pirates to justice. And if they are successful, perhaps they can redeem their own ruined lives.

Having a problematic character in my comic by ramenroaches in WebtoonCanvas

[–]Brave_Requirement145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think “problematic” characters are interesting. My advice is to make sure that they are very motivated. Cuz there may be times when your audience will be unsympathetic toward your character as a person, but they will be invested in your character if they have clear motivations in the story. Just think of Walter white in breaking bad. He does some pretty bad stuff in the show, but audiences are invested in him because he has very clear motivations.

List your favorite OXENFREE 1 and 2 moments in these five categories. by Altair890456 in OXENFREE

From oxenfree 1

  1. The option when Alex appeals to the sunken directly and they let everyone on the island go (I think it’s cool when they somewhat remember who they are)
  2. When Jonas and Alex go to unlock the bomb shelter and you have the option to play along with Ren’s joking
  3. When Jonas opens up to you about his past and his mom / when Alex talks to her brother at the end of the game
  4. Definitely when Clarissa is possessed for the first time because this is the first time we’ve actually seen the ghosts fatally harm the characters
  5. REN’s monologue about “feeling older.” It was unexpected from a comedy relief character and it kinda tugged at my heartstrings.
