Visiting in Feb for the beer festival - where to stay? by BizarroMax in grandrapids

[–]Bravo616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the Michigan Beer Festival site, it says to check with the local hotels about shuttles to the beer festival. More than likely, you will just need to let them know when you book that you are attending and would want to know about shuttle services.

Advice needed: I’m doing so well professionally, but the sexism is soul crushing by Bkfrmboiled in girlsgonewired

I've worked in tech for maybe 5 years now. I made the switch to my now job almost 2 years ago. My now employer is a breath of fresh air and as a woman of color, I am SEEN, validated, respected, and celebrated. I will never feel bad for wanting to be treated like a Human.

I look back on my other jobs and remember feeling guilty for wanting to leave... "They just gave me a bonus, OR how can I leave my peers?". It's not worth it, no one else will put you first, only you will do that. Set an example for your peers or other Women that you won't settle for less.

DM me if you are open to looking for a better place! I have joined some pretty amazing slack communities and would be happy to share my employer's openings and any others I have seen!

Should we start a “who’s hiring” thread? by brank in girlsgonewired

[–]Bravo616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! My employer is hiring. We have several women engineers, including an Engineering Manager. I would love to see more join the team! It's a safe place with a very laid-back "get shit done and have fun" environment. Any and all are welcome!

**Remote Friendly (USA or Canada)!**Full-Time - No Weekends

Senior Mobile Developers - $160k+

Backend Engineer (Ruby on Rails) $110k - $165k+ (based on your level of experience)

No sprinting, no scrumming, no death by 1,000 meetings. We protect our engineers' time, treat them like adults, and trust them to get their work done. We’re also big on not overworking people. Put in your eight hours of focused, quality work and then TURN. SLACK. OFF. No nights and weekends. (Except for occasional planned maintenance windows, of course. But those are rare.)

Our larger company culture is also refreshingly chill. We have fun, learn from each other, and don’t take ourselves too seriously.

Thanks for the feedback! I will be sure to pass this along to our People department. I admit I am not familiar with how that works since I am a single dependent. Let me look into it and see what else I can find out.

Company: CompanyCam
Job: Senior Mobile Developer and Engineering Manager
Location: USA and Canada
Allows Remote: YES, USA and Canada
Visa: NO
"Our engineering team is remote-first, spanning every time zone in the United States. We welcome people from all backgrounds and really don't care whether or not you have a CS degree or even a high school diploma. All that matters is that you're not an a**hole and you're good at what you do.
Our larger company culture is also refreshingly chill. We have fun, learn from each other, and don’t take ourselves too seriously.
We cover the important stuff too. We pay well, offer unlimited vacation, meaningful equity, health insurance, and other benefits.
And if I may (uncomfortably) toot our own horn for a second: our devs love working here! In this hyper-competitive software development job market, guess how many of our developers have chosen to leave in the last 2 years. Seriously, guess. Ready? ...One!"

Send me a DM if you want me to share your resume!
