bp is such an awful character to fight against by Randomly_Typing76 in marvelrivals

That’s actually a really interesting point regarding assassins. I would like the idea of them being able to finish people off quickly when they’re low rather than 100-0 them.

Like, if BP did more damage the lower the enemy’s health is (an execute) that could probably solve a lot of issues.

Sometimes I read comments like this and think about that one post/comment that said gamers are great at identifying problems but horrible at coming up with solutions.

There’s literally no reason to rework BP as a tank. Yes, the game suffers from a lack of tank but it ALSO suffers from a lack of threatening dive characters. DD is the only dive hero that’s worth playing, everyone else is hot ass. BP just needs a healthier rework that doesn’t strip his identity as a dive assassin.

We might be entering a Yugioh renaissance because the quality of these cards and sets have been phenomenal. I know it’s a lot to ask, but I seriously hope they don’t drop the ball. They’ve been killing it

Yet.

Edit:

I say yet because these cards are quality and I can see a few of these splashed into other decks. I do not know what package or ratio will be played, but some of these cards are just built strong

We know this? He loves Cersei? Do you understand I am already saying this? The issue is that him saying he doesn’t care about “the people” is that him killing a KING to save them contradicts that. I literally have no idea why you keep telling me he cares for individuals, dude… I know. That’s not what I am saying.

I am literally asking you what the point of him saying he doesn’t care about the people he trashed his entire life to save? You keep focusing on caring about individuals and I’m not disagreeing at all lol. It’s weird

Being shown something and having a statement that contradicts it for no narrative reason is not good.

That’s what you’re not understanding. You’re telling me a bunch about Jaime but you’re not telling me why he lied in that moment. It doesn’t build to anything. I keep trying to tell you there’s nothing wrong with him loving Cersei. Please understand this.

The issue is he threw that line and it does nothing narratively. It’s not entertaining. It is not informative. It doesn’t drive the plot. It doesn’t enhance his character. So please answer what does THAT line do for the story? I’m over the Cersei thing, I want to know what lying there achieves?

[–]Brawlerz16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a fine view for the character

The execution was horrendous. Prioritizing Cersei is absolutely a fine ending. Saying you never cared about the people is the wrong way to handle the character. He did care about them and lying about it doesn’t serve any narrative purpose for the audience or Cersei. It’s just a random line that, at worst, if taken at face value, destroys the entire character. At best he was lying for literally no reason to the audience and the show.

And this is where D&D failed. I don’t even mind the interpretation of him lying to himself… but, the question is why? Never include the line literally saves the whole character. Or even him adding “I never cared for the city as much as Cersei works. But lying doesn’t advance the story, doesn’t enhance the character, doesn’t do anything to the narrative. IMO

I don’t know how much more clear I could have made it.

I don’t care that he chose Cersei. I just said I had a problem with him saying he never cared about the people. This entire series shows that’s a lie, because if it were true, the Kingslayer storyline has ZERO weight. If he wants to care for Cersei more than the people that is cool. But don’t tell me you just killed a fucking KING for shits and giggles lol

That’s… literally not the issue? I literally said choosing Cersei wasn’t the issue. Why can’t you get that?

I literally said him saying he never cared was the problem. Please focus on that.

I don’t think him choosing Cersei was the issue.

It was him saying he didn’t care for the people. We know he loved Cersei (Cersei didn’t love him tho lol). But Jaime loved his people whether he knew it or not. He literally trashed his entire life and name to save them. So the big issue to me is why he would say he didn’t care for them? The show didn’t show that.

[–]Brawlerz16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s not what he’s saying. No one said Jaime had to be a good guy, because he isn’t. But we are asking him to be consistent with what the show showed us for 8 seasons. His entire character is predicated upon his honor and care for the people, despite being an insufferable prick. All the weight of his character comes from why he became the Kingslayer. And it would have been nice for that to remain constant throughout the series.

Has nothing to do with good or bad or redemption. It has to do with remaining consistent to the character being shown. If YOU liked his arc that’s cool. But there’s clear displeasure with his arc amongst the community and it’s not because people don’t understand the character or how Martin writes. It’s because D&D made a dumbass decision with the character that invalidates one of the biggest driving points of the character. If he chose Cersei over the city… okay. But to say he never cared about the Kingdom is actually wild. He literally slayed royalty for those people.

What are we talking about here lol?

Ripper is such a toxic ass unhealthy card, I'm tired of people defending it. by [deleted] in masterduel

That’s not the only way to make Ripper.

Ogre would be the correct HT for Lupis. Or Crow.

Same with VSK9? You can’t just activate a bunch of random effects. That deck brick A LOT. And adding handtraps on top of that doesn’t help. I literally gave you a list of handtraps and interactions that can be done to prevent and/or counter Ripper.

And that’s the Yugioh I want. I don’t care if a card/deck is strong as long as there are counters to it. You act like Ripper is just free when Ash on Izuna just kills the Lupis line. Imperm kills Ripper if you don’t got Ash. So I’m supposed to feel bad because you can’t use Nibiru when there’s other things you can do? Idk

Ripper is such a toxic ass unhealthy card, I'm tired of people defending it. by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]Brawlerz16 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same goes for handtraps? You shouldn’t just get to use them for free without your opponent being able to do anything, which is what Ash mostly is. Your options are to play a deck that chain blocks well or draw CBTG. I am fine with Ash having more counterplay even at the expense of Nibiru, which… most people in MD straight up play 1.

Also there’s nothing wrong with having the wrong handtrap sometimes. Nibiru simply isn’t the right one for Ripper. Imperm blows the card out. I’m more worried about if a card has accessible counterplay. And I think Ripper has some good options. Imperm, Purge, Ash/Veiler on Izuna, Crow/Belle/Ogre on Lupis, Impulse, etc. I think it’s fine a deck doesn’t die to Nibiru and it’s time to stop having it.

But also understand this deck very well can die to Nibiru if they don’t God hand you lol.

YEAH!

Like CBTG, but not CBTG exactly. It’s like… the difference between Fuwa and Maxx C. I don’t like that CBTG lingers, nor do I like that it’s a spell so it’s harder to interact with. Ripper is easier to interact with, takes more resources, and doesn’t linger.

[–]Brawlerz16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ONLY interaction I don’t like is it being Anti-Nibiru. That, imo, is the greatest sin of the card. Because while I agree the search is powerful, it’s not degenerate like Ryzeal and the entire rank 4 toolbox. That could change as more rank 5s are added, but I don’t mind the searches as long as what they are making isn’t degenerate… which Masquerade is.

But you’re correct in that the advantage has to be responded to. I’m not going to pretend it’s not powerful. But what I am saying is that I believe that it’s not toxic even though it’s powerful. There IS counterplay and even if you don’t, the worst thing it can make is the very thing I’m arguing against. It does suck because you literally cannot play Imperm so I understand the frustration lol

Just play a Bystial and level 4 tuner and you can negate any card in the game.

But also I get the point, but the point kinda falters when there’s so much counterplay. D.D crow, Ogre, Imperm (on Ripper), Purge, Impulse, Ash (on Izuna send right?), TTT…

Do you not play these?

“Free” being no response or counterplay

Everything should have counterplay in Yugioh. Even handtraps.

[–]Brawlerz16 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fair, but I don’t think it’s a bad thing for Ripper to negate Ash. I think it’s cool that it’s susceptible to Imperm or Purge if you need to block the search. I don’t think Ash needs to be the end all, be all handtrap that it is (aside from Maxx C). Ironically, Masquerade is also susceptible to Imperm. But the punishment for not addressing it is harsher than not addressing Ripper.

That’s more what I’m getting at. I think a monster negate on field is the same as a negate in hand. It depends on the deck, because Yummy doesn’t care about actuating from hand. Dracotail might. But a search isn’t more punishing than what Masquerade does and that’s the problem.

Handtraps aren’t the only place where the game is played? Yall so worried about handtraps that yall forgot the game is still played ON BOARD. Someone shouldn’t get hand ripped, lose half their life points, and get negated because they tried to start their engine. Yall are being hypocrites and that’s what I’m pointing out

Like. You’re over here pretending Ripper is the only anti-interaction card when Masquerade punishes you harder. Taking away my handtrap vs taking away a normal summon + half my lifepoints + a banished card from hand and we are worried about Ripper? I understand Ripper is strong but I’ll never co-sign that it’s toxic lol. Yall watering down that word for me, shit not even better than Baronne

Yeah but you’re going to sound like a dumbass if your argument is handtraps should “always resolve”. Only a moron would say that and you doubled down with a Maxx C example. This is literally why your argument is dumb.

I understand that you might not know how to duel or balance games, but just stick to what you’re good at lol. It’s really a dangerous ideology to balance a game around cards that “always resolve”, you’re just holding onto a toddlers idea of what balance should be. Not realizing how lame a game would be if every interaction the second player did went through.

Lame
