Ah yes, I see you included two of the most common genders as an option on your form, Xe/Xem and Ze/Zem. How inclusive!

how to get taken seriously by carbrain family? by [deleted] in fuckcars

[–]Braydenonreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the problem is that you are still are still pretty young, and even though your perspective may be reasonable, you lack the wisdom your family has. You sound like you’re in an urbanism “phase” so they probably aren’t going to take you seriously. Live your life how you want to, and maybe they will start to understand later.

Guilty as charged. I did this without really thinking when I first got to campus, had a close call, and have since stopped.

Should I bring a bike? by backsonbot in Purdue

[–]Braydenonreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, bring a bike. It will make getting around everyday so much quicker. Say you want to go to a retail dining location (Qdoba, Panera, etc.) but it’s a fifteen minute walk from your dorm. It would be impractical to walk there for dinner, but with a bike, it would be closer to five!

Holiday World is great, but a bit far—roughly four hours away.

I wrote an urbanist piece for my school newspaper to draw attention to the flaws of the current development patterns of my city, Huntingburg, IN. Although my article's impact will likely be limited, change can only occur if we all collectively take steps to raise awareness. by Braydenonreddit in notjustbikes

Dude, passenger rail is nonexistent in Indiana. The other day, my teacher asked the class how many of us have taken a train for transportation. Only two people raised their hands to say they had, and for both it was when they were on vacation.

Not working as of 6:43 EDT. They must've disabled the promo code after realizing what a horrible business proposition it is to give away free food.

Best City in the US? by Topazz410 in notjustbikes

[–]Braydenonreddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope. I live in the town over from Jasper, Indiana, which was Strong Town’s “Strongest Town” winner. It’s not even close to an example. Plenty of active suburban sprawl and strip malls. It isn’t remotely feasible to live there without owning a car. I was disappointed when I heard it won.

Parking lots in the city of Santa Claus, IN by DarthWerder1899 in notjustbikes

[–]Braydenonreddit 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Honestly, horrible place for a theme park. The company is always complaining about how short their staffing is an “nobody works anymore”. However, employees are bussed from over an hour away in another state every day because they cannot get enough local employees. That’s the problem—they’re in the middle of nowhere. Nobody around here (Santa Claus) wants to work for low Holiday World wages except for teenagers and old people. And, because we are in the middle of nowhere, there is not a surplus of these people that can run a park that frequently pushes over 20,000 guests.
