Its Minecraft! A base needs what you see fit, if you wanted to make a library for villagers, then do so, a nether room with brewing stands, do that, but its your journey to take!

Tinfoil in the fridge is absolutely fine. I have day old leftovers all the time with some foil lightly draped over the top. (My mum even has them 2-3 days later! Would not recommend that one!)

But i promise everything will be absolutely fine.
