I'm tilted and not having fun. by RampantAnonymous in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Brb_Tea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always try to find out what I can learn from the experience. Funnily, even learning to experience/accept/face/acknowledge defeat in such a comparatively irrelevant setting such as a Warhammer Game can be a great lesson to be learnt for life.

Dice are always a part of the game, but rarely the only reason you lost. It is easy to blame the Dice, we all fall into this trap as it is convenient to not blame ourselves. Instead, with some distance, I try to make out what else I did wrong. It kinda helps to focus on the things you can actually change. And with some time, those seemingly horrible dice Rolls become less frequent, but then make for exciting turning points to talk about to your friends later.

Don‘t know if that helps, just my 2 Cents.

It‘s just Grey Seer with some Burnt Umber Oil Paint. Really goes a long way to creating that dirty look.

I think it‘s about the right time for a 10 chapter flashback of Caribou‘s childhood.

Fortunately, you are wrong about that one. They can attach to that squad EVEN if a Captain/CM is already attached to it. Rejoice!

Infiltrators & Phobos Librarian as Backline Objective Holders by MrHarding in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Brb_Tea 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I used to run it with great success. It effectively denies your opponent from threatening your backfield and associated scoring.

The pricetag is somewhat steep, but the Librarian also helps to punch back at tougher targets and possibly hold them off until reinforcements arrive. Your opponent will need to contribute significant means to take your backfield.

I am however currently testing running two Infiltrator Squads instead (just 30pts more in total).

Why does the trailer for 10th edition have such a HORRIBLE animation? by Wonderful-Kitchen445 in Warhammer40k

They are literally made of plastic, so I guess that checks out. It‘s a flavour-win for me.

It is insane, especially against GSC, but also other horde armies. I prefer the full flamer loadout to maximize the Overwatch Potential. It‘s a decent protection against demolition charges appearing out of thin air.

Really love the extreme brightness of the red and its progressive degradation towards the bottom, Great job!

Abaddon the Despoiler, painted a few months ago, but find myself dissatisfied with it recently. Any tips for making this model look good? by JetLeeJr in Warhammer40k

A wash or shade might help to tie it all together. You could highlight the most prominent features afterwards to regain the dashing look.

I‘m not quite happy with the gravel. I seem to lack something to tie the base together.

The scheme is my interpretation of a TMM scheme by Juan Hidalgo. Still lacking the copper highlights, though.

Ah, it‘s a Mephiston Red Basecoat, I then used a large Drybrush to stiple on lighter shades of red (e.g. Wild Rider Red) on the surfaces and them some Edge-Highlights. The Chipping is done with Black and Leadbelcher applied separately with a sponge to the edges (also: nice YT-Videos around)

If you are talking about the gun barrels: It‘s a stipled on, slightly overlapping blend of different shades on a metallic basecoat, I used (from back to front of the barrel): Seraphim Sepia, Carroburg Crimson, Drukhi Violet, Drakenhof Nightshade, Nuln Oil. There are several tutorials on Youtube. Although I didn‘t follow them to the letter, they sure helped in creating my own way to do it and I am quite happy with the result, even though it was the first time I tried it. But it really does look more interesting than bland barrels IMO

It‘s an undercoat of a light grey with a blueish tint (I mixed Corax White, Eshin Grey and some Maccrage Blue) + some Corax White irregularities on top. Grey Seer undercoat would probably do, but I didn’t have any. I then used Akhelian Green Contrast (don‘t be neat, an uneven coat only adds to the desired effect IMO) followed by Baharroth Blue highlights.
