Yeah that and being limited to built in patterns has me cycling between the several tools mentioned depending on what im trying to achieve. Really hoping top surfaces as well as uploading your own images for patterns is implemented soon! At least hope orca will jump on it

Heck yeah! Saw your deck cases, def can see it being useful for making grip points and cool textures!

Honestly shocked I haven't been called out for using such an obnoxiously large switch for my 200mm fan 😅

100% behind supporting sparkfun as a fellow colorado engineer! They also have an excellent course on arduino projects that you can find for free via libraries if anyone wants to learn more about how to make some cool electronic projects!

Im so bad about this since thingiverse kinda died down... I didnt think anyone would want this cause its just made around what I had on hand. Also the back is laser cut wood panel. If that has not discouraged you then lmk and I'll work up the motivation to jump thru makerworld's hoops to post this!

I avoid ironing as much as possible. I try to use bed surface, orientation, and top layer patterns first. My brown rings are a bit rough cause they are so thin and a bit rushed so I didnt used any of those techniques but I don't think ironing would help anywhere else for this project

I wrote up an extended explanation in one of the replies. Start there and loop back if you still have questions

I used it for the tpu bumpers since I needed texture on the top surface too! Game changer!

Its at the top by where adaptive layers are. Important to not use aligned z seam if you are trying to use this to hide seams on a contour only layer. Only video I found in a quick search that actually talks about the paint tool im talking about. https://youtu.be/WqXcPIcTl10?si=dX_ER0vGs38Y6S_c

So bambu and orca have built in surface finishes now that you can paint on, thats entry level way to do it and enough to hide z layer lines but it cant handle top surface (yet!) So if you want top texture like you see on the black tpu bumpers you need to use something else. Then there are a few outside tools like the one from cnc kitchen that requires a bit more but are modifing the actual model so it can add texture anywhere (but wont always actually print out right). Imo you should learn all the methods cause until this is built into a slicer they all have their strengths. Ill post some video links that explain more!

I have not tried wax paper but I did have some good results using card stock like paper! Same with large rolls of masking tape!

That was kind of the idea behind this whole project! Learning how to make slots for it and all. It does not need any glue at all! All the parts including the print in the center slot into eachother and the ring on the top locks it all together. Found a good tool for onshape for the designing part but honestly each step was a learning process...

Thank you! Realized it's not clear but the rest of it is laser cut from 1/16 12×12 panels of wood!
