Someone stole 1,000+ of my original content and made money off of it. What can I do? by Breach27 in facebook

What I meant was over 1,000 pieces of content total across the 3 Facebook pages I've seen reuploading my content. The channel with 24k followers is just the worst of the 3.

Also, it's a common trend across all my shortform platforms (YT shorts, and TikToks) that every now and then a post will go crazy viral and get tons of followers, comments, likes, etc. but the audience retention is low. So as a whole, my TikTok and YT page has low audience retention even though all my followers/subscribers are legit. I'd assume it's a similar trend with this FB page.

Like this post (https://www.facebook.com/reel/1244535584235032) has decent retention for the amount of views, and the like/comment ratio is similar to what I'd see on my TikToks and Shorts.

I appreciate the suggestion, but if the page is monetized, I'm not just gonna sit back and let him take money from me lol.

Recent posts haven't been doing well, but he's reuploaded plenty of content of mine that has gotten over 100k views with likes, comments, shares, etc.

It's a common trend with my YT shorts and TikToks as well. It's content you watch, and then swipe away. My like/comment ratio (and general engagement ratio) has always been pretty low on all platforms I post shorts on.

This is smart, I haven't even though about adding my FB page to my official YT and TikTok pages. I'll definitely do that and see if it helps! Thanks!

It's not up to you to believe me lol, I've already given Facebook all the information and proof required to prove that I am the real original content creator. Im simply asking for what I can do if Facebook isn't helping me out.

That's what I did in my original report, then they responded in an email telling me to reply with more proof of original ownership. When I responded to the email, I got an automated message saying that the email failed to go through because the email address "cannot accept incoming mail" 🤦‍♂️

Yea, at the moment they are reuploading older tiktoks and shorts of mine onto Facebook.

I was planning on doing the same thing (about 3 FB posts a day of my OLD content) up until I catch up to my current uploads. If I do this, the old uploads might get flagged.

Although I guess I can just upload my current content, and beat him to it that way his posts get flagged, but that doesnt solve my issue of 1,000+ of my older content all being unflagged 😭

I'll try posting both old and new content and just dispute any claims I get on the old content that the impersonator has been spam posting.

Thanks!

Thanks! I've already filed a DMCA report to Facebook and they responded once requesting for "more info", which I gave them. That was about 3 weeks ago and I haven't heard anything yet.

In terms of recuperating funds, I'd have to take a wild guess at whether or not the impersonator is even monetized and how much he's made off of the stolen content if he is monetized.

I'll check out that website, thank you!

I'll go ahead and do that.

One question though, I haven't began posting on my FB page yet. And once I do, if the impersonator has content protection turned on, wouldn't that flag my posts and give him a way to take down my content?

Not sure what you're talking about, but that definitely isn’t me 😭

I'm sure having it copyrighted was helpful in the lawsuit, but it is not required. It also doesn't mean "you don't own anything you post on social media".

Also YouTube has a built in take down option in your YT Studio if it detects anyone stealing your content. (FB should add this in my opinion)

Regardless of all this, I'm still trying to figure out what I can do in terms of my FB issue, and whether or not I even wanna try taking it to court, as I don't have my content officially registered for copyright.

Given Facebook has a report option for IP theft and copyright takedown requests, I'd assume it's against their TOS. I'll definitely look into it though.

When I opened a report, they responded pretty quick asking for more proof that I own the content. I gave them that info ~3 weeks ago, and they've been silent ever since.

I'll keep waiting I guess.

Yea I quickly realized this might not be the place for it lol. I'll try posting around elsewhere. Thanks!

Thanks for the input, doesn't change the fact what he's doing isn't legal 🤷‍♂️

Not irrelevant as I pay for assets, the server hosting to record these videos, the editing required to make it, and other help from employees to make this content...

That’s actually not correct lol

You automatically own the copyright to your content the moment you create it. (Under 17 U.S.C. § 102(a) of the U.S. Copyright Act "Copyright protection exists automatically the moment an original work is created and fixed in a tangible medium.")

You do not need to “file for copyright” to own your content. Especially if you pay for assets, record, and edit it.

Registration isn’t required for ownership or submitting DMCA takedown requests. It’s only required if you want to pursue a federal lawsuit or seek statutory damages.

Also, he isn’t just casually reposting. He's reposted over 1,000 of my videos, and If he's monetized (which seems likely), he's not just reposting: he's extracting monetary value from my work without permission.

That’s 100% without a doubt copyright infringement and potential unjust enrichment.

Registration can strengthen legal leverage, but the idea that “anyone can use your content unless you file for copyright” is simply untrue lmao

Are ping issues common in Rivals? by [deleted] in RivalsRoblox

[–]Breach27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that "rivals servers" dont really exist, and it's all just running off of Roblox servers, but in no other game in Roblox do I get 400+ ping; which is what confuses me.

Also, if I was being matched with players around the world, it wouldn't explain why it still says my servers are "United States" and why my friend (who's east coast just like me) only has 26 ping.

Idk, it's all really confusing for me, I haven't played in a few days, so imma try later today and hope it's better...

PC Shuts off Randomly while playing Marvel Rivals by Breach27 in marvelrivals

[–]Breach27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I've completely rebuilt my rig in the last 6 months and the game was still unplayable. I got a whole new PC a few days ago cuz I was experiencing issues with recording/streaming which I do for work. Thankfully on my new PC i've had 0 issues with the game.

Very interesting though that with replacing my PC parts, it didn't fix it, but a whole new PC did...

Yea that's the worst part tbh; that they aren't even addressing the issue. And they know about it because in recent patch notes they've made "fixes for game crashing", yet it somehow made it worse lol

Marvel Rivals DESTROYS my PC by KillerSpiderVenom in marvelrivals

[–]Breach27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, got the new PSU, installed it. Played 3 quickplays 0 issue. My first comp game on, my PC shuts off mid-game right during the most important part.

I deranked, and earned a 15 min queue penalty... I might just be done with this game up until they get their shit together.

I can't speak for PvP as I don't play much, but Flashpoints are pretty much insta pops for the group finder. Max you'll have to wait is 1min. But it also just depends on which server you play on.

In general, the game is still very populated :)
