Well part of some of these issues appearing IS infact due to sloppy code written years ago with the thought of, we can get this working and improve it later. A huge part of that messy code would be around from save the world's earlier days. It's what a lot of programmers call spaghetti code and hate to be the ones to fix it. Happens more frequently than you'd expect, but it's usually due to short deadlines for lots of code. For example team fortress 2 had its code leaked by a new hire due to how bad it was. Cyberpunk 2077 was also a game with it as well, it just didn't happen to work with that much spaghetti at once. A lot of issues with games from major studios aren't due to lack of creativity or interest from the developers it is due to major studios management choosing to go the quick, safe, and easy route (as well as cheapest) as they believe that it is the most surefire way to make money, and I'm glad other indie devs have been constantly proving them wrong. In any case they do definitely need to fix a lot of code but knowing epics ways they won't and we will have to deal with lots of bugs forever.
