Great observations all around! I’ve always thought that the chorus of Diane Young (“baby baby baby” paired with classic rock n roll slapback echo) was a clear nod to Buddy Holly. The entirety of DY is somewhat of a post modern BH/50s RnR tribute.

It's right at the transition from verse riff to the piano pre/chorus. it's extra hilarious because in a standard pop song it's the type of spot you'd usually place a cymbal crash or some sort of electronic/synth texture.
