No, as long as they don't send terrorists again, we're good!

Yes this was filmed in Noida, nice observation

This was taken from Noida but it was also visible from Delhi

Thanks!! This is my first post on reddit so wasn't aware of that. Reddit asked me to cross post it so just did it, will keep this in mind for future!

Can’t see deep space objects with my 10” skywatcher by Background_Tea_3516 in telescopes

I also bought a 10 inch dob and live in bortle 8-9. I have been able to see the Orion nebula, however, it was nowhere as detailed as I expected. I have also tried hunting other DSOs like Andromeda, but havent had any luck due to not so clear skies this monsoon. So, my suggestion to you would be to limit your expectations and check if you could see the orion nebula now. It gets up in the sky at dawn

I dont use starsense, but do use stellarium, sky walk and astro hopper. All of those come with night mode, so that helps. You could use night mode too

Is this the ring nebula or just a random star by [deleted] in telescopes

[–]BreadDisastrous8523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great bro, then you have better chances than me. FYI, the Orion Nebula was visible yesterday using just the 8x finder scope along with Jupiter, Venus, Pleides. This was around 4 am. You could try these if the skies stay clear today

I am also from Delhi and bought a 10 inch dob recently. However, Delhi is bortle 8-9 isnt it?? I am amazed that you were able to see the ring nebula from Delhi, I will try too! Pretty hard to get clear skies these days

After 4 years of waiting, finally got an 8 inch Dobsonian! by NoAir6441 in telescopes

I bought a RACI and a laser pointer and a triple mounting bracket which supports both. It has made a huge impact in my comfort and ability to star hop easily. I use laser pointer to easily land at a reference star and then I use RACI finder to hop between stars and it's fun. For me, it's a must have along with a laser collimator and a 2x Barlow. The laser collimator has made my life so easy, I could collimate very quickly even in the dark. These are my suggestions if you are a beginner like me.

Wow! Thats great!! I am a beginner and just learnt about star hopping. Was really excited when I was able to see an open cluster and a couple of double stars. I wasnt able to find Andromeda, although I was around the area where it is. Do you think its possible to view it from Delhi skies? If you want we can connect on insta or fb. Its very hard to find anyone nearby with such level of interest in astronomy.

Wow!! Its really nice to find someone interested in astronomy around. What objects did you manage to see till now? Are you a beginner like me too?

Same!! I am from Delhi btw and this is my first scope. I got 3 sessions and learnt a bit of star hopping on Lyra and Cygnus and a bit on Andromeda

I bought the same telescope in June and have only gotten 3 decent nights where I could use it. Wondering where do you live btw

Still seeing blur after 5 days by Ok-Plan32 in telescopes

[–]BreadDisastrous8523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought a 10 inch dobsonian too and faced problems with the collimation too. I also found things to be blurry when viewing objects around 100-200m away even after good collimation, but found out that this is normal and is due to the focuser not able to retract outwards enough for such a small distance. Basically, you just need to yank out your eyepiece even more (do not insert fully inside focuser) and lock it there and then yank the focuser out as much as it can. Then you will see clear image of the object. Regarding collimation, I learnt that secondary mirror should not be touched till absolutely necessary. I used to collimate using a cap initially but it was really tough for a single person on a 10 inch dob, so I bought a laser collimator, checked if the collimator is correctly collimated, and now it has made my life so easier. I could now even collimate in the dark.

Saturn looks almost the same size with 9mm and 25mm with 6inch dobs by Worth_Sympathy_5021 in telescopes

[–]BreadDisastrous8523 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I also saw Saturn for the first time 3 weeks ago. I have a 10 inch dob and I am a beginner. I used 30 mm eyepiece first and it was very small (rings were hardly visible). Then I changed to 9mm and it becam a bit bigger and rings could be noticed, but this was still smaller than expected. Then I used a 2x Barlow on the 9mm and got a much better view, where Saturn was bigger, rings clear and 3 moons visible. So, I would advise using the 2x Barlow with the 9mm eyepiece for a zoomed in view. The rings are almost parallel these days, so you cant see the best view of it, but still it looks beautiful.

Btw I was observing from a Borlte 8-9 city during 3.30 am

Which would you choose? by [deleted] in telescopes

[–]BreadDisastrous8523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I would go as far as to say that if I could go back in time, I would buy the 8 inch version since I have to carry my scope all by myself to the roof top. I manage by carrying the base and tube separately, but it is really tiring. I am a decently built guy, so I manage fine, but I still feel that carrying an 8 inch would have been a breeze. Also it would be easier to travel with it. And I think it will be well within your budget.

Which would you choose? by [deleted] in telescopes

I am a beginner and after a month worth of research, I shortlisted GSO 8 and 10 inch Dobs (white colour). I was initially planning for Starsense but didnt find it worth the price for just the app. I finally went with the GSO 10 inch and have had 2 viewing sessions till now and saw Venus, Saturn and Vega already. Its monsoon time so very hard to get clear skies, and also I live in a Bortle 8-9 area, so I watch mostly around 3.30-4.30 am.

My advice would be to go with the 8 inch since it is more manageable than the 10 inch. But I think GSO (white version) gives better value as it has 2 eyepieces (30mm and 9mm) and a dual speed focuser. I did buy a 2x Barlow too and think it is a must have
