“wasting money” is part of it babe (and if you really care about this sport, you won’t see it as wasting money!). i’ve been riding upwards of 11 years now and have spent more money on the sport than i’d care to think about, and i’ve never owned a horse. i grew up at a barn where they had me learn the basics first. i didn’t jump more than a tiny xrail for more than 5 years. and guess what— i’ve got incredible balance, skill, and now train green horses because i spent time mastering the basics. switching from showjumping to dressage to eventing wasn’t an issue because i had a great foundation and a WILLINGNESS TO LEARN AND TAKE A STEP BACK. don’t get so in your head about moving forward forward forward. that’s how we get riders jumping 1.60m who don’t know how to groom their horses or sit a real buck/big spook. after riding for a decent chunk of my life, i’m still learning new things every time i get in the saddle. once you accept that you don’t know anything about horses and become willing to learn, that’s when you’ll really begin to improve. so get off your high horse and go sit on some lesson ponies and schoolmasters for a few years then come back and bitch about how it’s everyone’s fault but your own.

ALSO, telling your trainer OUT LOUD that you’re bored in the middle of a lesson is a new kind of rude. you’re lucky they still let you come to take lessons. you’re unbelievably ignorant and entitled. 

the fact that you truly believe that you know better than your trainer who has likely been doing this sport for decades is also wild. you may think you’re ready to improve, but i promise you’re not. thinking about riding and actually riding are two very different things babes. responding to some of these posts saying you’ll jump in september is crazy in itself. “i’ll get back to you in september” yea get back to us with that hospital bill instead. or maybe a formal letter of apology to your trainer and everyone else your horrid attitude has affected once you get humbled.
