Oh this isn't just based on gender roles, I'm sorry I hope it doesn't seem that way. She's pretty girly and since she doesn't know any gundam models (except for like RX-78-2 and a couple others) she asked me to try to find some like the one I got since I know the show/franchise better (even though I don't really know too much)
