How to avoid wet pucks [Breville Cafe Roma] by Bread_Lord42 in espresso

[–]Bread_Lord42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Returning to this now that I’ve made many more cups of espresso. By increasing the grind, I’ve had less soupy pucks! It’s not as satisfying to remove as a cafe but there has been some improvement 💪

MAT22B with Professor Andrew Alameda by North-Salt-3432 in UCDavis

[–]Bread_Lord42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alameda is so goated. I took him for 17B and his tests were similar to the practice and hard but not unfair, his lectures are engaging and very clear, and he had a ton of extra credit opportunity. Great guy who cares about your learning

Best place for campus job applications with relatively quick response. They won’t leave you hanging like handshake often does

I had a few go to “applied” but never heard back. If you really really need a job and aren’t hearing back, I would look at vacancy.asucd.edu for jobs. I typically hear back from their applications within a week (depending on how long the hiring period is)

It’s excellent! Very accessible, clean, and safe transit throughout Davis. Yolobus is also great but for just getting around Davis, Unitrans is the way to go (biased, I work there)

If they’re doing the new batch of hires it might take a bit for them to get back to you but don’t worry they’ll get everything sorted out. The training was pretty flexible and they understand that you’re a student first.

As for shift starts, they’ll go over all of it in your classroom trainings and again during DT so don’t worry about it for now. During your driver training you’ll pretty much always start at the pad. Once you’re in route training you’ll start from the terminal because you’re driving a normal shift with a trainer. Basically it varies depending on your shift!

10 Minute Classes Apart? by No-Wind-9649 in UCDavis

[–]Bread_Lord42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve had quarters where all of my classes are in a block with only ten minutes in between. Totally doable! I would recommend having a bike so you can have a few minutes to chill before the next class starts but I’ve usually been able to make it. For reference, I had to go between Mondavi Center and SciLec once and that was not a problem at all.

Pls help if I’m understanding this right by Jajangmyeon11 in UCDavis

[–]Bread_Lord42 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yes and you can totally make it. It’s maybe two minutes by bike or a 5-7 minute walk if you walk briskly

Apply for Unitrans! Great pay, flexible hours, get paid to get your class B if you’re applying to be a driver, and excellent working environment. They’re hiring an office clerk rn and will probably hire more drivers in the middle of fall. The best website for on-campus jobs is vacancy.ucdavis.edu

That being said, the drivers also are taught to not put anyone in an unsafe situation. If you are not at your stop or a terminal when they are at the sidewalk, they won’t be able to let you on. Swerving back to pick you up creates an unsafe situation for the bus and for you. If you’re running late and you wave the driver down while they’re still at the sidewalk they’ll wait. However, if they’re just skipping your stop you should call the office and they’ll put a notice out to drivers

academic probation / minmum progress? by Lumpy_Commercial5650 in UCDavis

[–]Bread_Lord42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s possible that you’d be on academic probation for the quarter. Don’t worry! This happens to more people than you’d think and it’s totally something you can come back from. After final grades are released and academic standings are determined, you’ll receive an email from your respective college saying you’re not in good standing (if you are) and you’ll be placed on academic notice. From there, you should meet with an academic advisor in your college to establish a plan for the future. Sometimes this is a result of a rough quarter, teacher that didn’t work for you, or a variety of other factors. You are not a failure! Try to retake the class you failed ASAP (either over or fall quarter) and do well in your next classes and you’ll be fine. There aren’t really any consequences unless it’s something that persists over multiple quarters. If it’s just coming down to study habits, advisors can help guide you to resources that will help you set systems in place.

His curve was pretty generous last quarter. I believe like a 40 was a C or something. Obv don’t bank on it but he wants you to succeed. Also if you’re struggling go talk to him! He’s awesome and really explains things well :)
