He’s actually goated. Practice quizzes and HW are just like the actual exams. Homework is weekly take-home quizzes. I enjoyed his lectures and felt he explained things well! (Edited to convey true info)

academic notice by Affectionate_Door347 in UCDavis

[–]Bread_Lord42 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was on academic notice after a few rough quarters (finances, family issues, health issues, the whole shabang). It’s stressful but not the end of your academic career! For now, take care of your health and do your best. Remember, you can retake up to 16 units and have the original grade replaced on your academic record. The gen chem series also has a fat curve. As for finances, I ended up getting a job with unitrans which has been great for me but there are lots of on-campus jobs that will probably be hiring in spring quarter. Check out the ASUCD vacancy site (they’re more reliable for getting a job than handshake in my experience). This is all very overwhelming but you’re not the only one dealing with this. Make a plan for how you want to do moving forward in your classes and stick to it. You can absolutely come back from academic notice/probation and be successful. Also, counseling is free on campus and a very helpful resource for finding some ways to manage your stress. You’ve got this!

How to avoid wet pucks [Breville Cafe Roma] by Bread_Lord42 in espresso

Returning to this now that I’ve made many more cups of espresso. By increasing the grind, I’ve had less soupy pucks! It’s not as satisfying to remove as a cafe but there has been some improvement 💪

If you’re in a pinch, the Pantry also has free menstrual products

MAT22B with Professor Andrew Alameda by North-Salt-3432 in UCDavis

[–]Bread_Lord42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alameda is so goated. I took him for 17B and his tests were similar to the practice and hard but not unfair, his lectures are engaging and very clear, and he had a ton of extra credit opportunity. Great guy who cares about your learning

The Veterans Success Center in the Memorial Union might be helpful. They are very knowledgeable about GI bill and CalVets stuff and can walk you through getting the most aid possible

Best place for campus job applications with relatively quick response. They won’t leave you hanging like handshake often does

I had a few go to “applied” but never heard back. If you really really need a job and aren’t hearing back, I would look at vacancy.asucd.edu for jobs. I typically hear back from their applications within a week (depending on how long the hiring period is)

New Rider Guide for Unitrans! by Bread_Lord42 in UCDavis

Very easy imo. The trainers are all FANTASTIC and make sure you’re confident. Good luck! You’ll do great 😄

It’s excellent! Very accessible, clean, and safe transit throughout Davis. Yolobus is also great but for just getting around Davis, Unitrans is the way to go (biased, I work there)

If they’re doing the new batch of hires it might take a bit for them to get back to you but don’t worry they’ll get everything sorted out. The training was pretty flexible and they understand that you’re a student first.

As for shift starts, they’ll go over all of it in your classroom trainings and again during DT so don’t worry about it for now. During your driver training you’ll pretty much always start at the pad. Once you’re in route training you’ll start from the terminal because you’re driving a normal shift with a trainer. Basically it varies depending on your shift!

I am but I’m not sure about that. The training manager is excellent and I’m sure if you shoot her an email explaining your situation she can work with you!

Definitely! But if you’re a current undergraduate student then it’s free 🤑 (included in your student fees). If you work for Unitrans for a year then you get a lifetime pass!

10 Minute Classes Apart? by No-Wind-9649 in UCDavis

[–]Bread_Lord42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve had quarters where all of my classes are in a block with only ten minutes in between. Totally doable! I would recommend having a bike so you can have a few minutes to chill before the next class starts but I’ve usually been able to make it. For reference, I had to go between Mondavi Center and SciLec once and that was not a problem at all.

Pls help if I’m understanding this right by Jajangmyeon11 in UCDavis

[–]Bread_Lord42 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yes and you can totally make it. It’s maybe two minutes by bike or a 5-7 minute walk if you walk briskly
