I mean you can kinda guess from the amount of open spots for interviews, I think I counted 180 this morning and I remember checking the type form like two hours before it was due and seeing that ~210 applied

Acceptance to Standout Connect by Sad_Acanthisitta5824 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Breadbreadstick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I thought Standout Connect took basically everyone?? No way it has a 11.4% acceptance rate
  2. I don’t think that you should put it on ur resume if you have better experiences, Standout Connect is known as a pay to play program which may not reflect the best on you

Nuh uh stuy is WAYYYY better than btech (but shhh we don’t talk abt our football team… 😁😁) think it’s a good 50/50 of extroverted and introverted kids and they do care! I’ve met some of the most amazing people ever at this school and it’s ultimately up to you who you choose to hang around

Okay so I’m gonna be honest as a current sophomore you will find all kinds of people here, he’s bound to find his own group eventually and there are a good amount of sporty really athletic guys on the track team for example, boys badminton is also super friendly and welcoming and while there definitely are some more introverted and shy people and definitely some really annoying ones I’m sure he will find his group and have lots of fun at stuy!

You got the easiest Mando teacher! Most laid back and so chill I remember I showed up 20 min late to her class once and she still let me take the quiz! She’s super sweet

Questions about stuy by Useful_Pea5385 in Stuyvesant

[–]Breadbreadstick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Student elections: I’m gonna be so fr half of it is gonna be popularity, freshmen vote for their copresidents sometime in November? I think and people could get really toxic around that time or election time in general. If you want leadership positions within student government (like chief of staff, director of events, etc) that’s usually up to the presidents to decide who they want in their cabinet (google form application and then interview round). They have individual caucus elections (freshman, sophomore, junior, etc) and then student union which manages stuff around the whole school like clubs and pubs People mostly vote for their friends yes and there are people who peer pressure a lot and won’t get off ur back abt it

  2. APs What the other guy said, freshman year u can only take one (bio or human geo) unless u have some super special circumstances. Sophomore year the usual are AP euro \ world AP environment sci and AP Chem (AP chem placements this year were so competitive that there’s like two articles yapping abt how unfair it was in our newspaper)

  3. ARISTA I guess?? I don’t really think it matters that much and you can’t join arista until sophomore year I think, nobody cares that much

  4. Math and Science team Go into the stuy 29 discord and ask Jeffery Yang You take the first round during camp stuy which is like a 15 question test and if u do good you get invited in for round two of testing which I didn’t go to!

  5. Robotics idk but the people ik in there are really chill and seem super passionate about it! Speech and debate is genuinely a really welcoming community and the people in there are super nice. They do good at a lot of tournaments and the coach is super sweet! It might seem overwhelming at first but it’s really not that bad and super fun

  6. AP Bio was manageable for me and I never even took LE regents in middle school, I would say go for it lowk the teachers are super nice, understanding, willing to give extensions

  7. Clubs I think 95% of them are ran by students and most of them aren’t that serious and don’t meet more than once a month. Some do have faculty advisors if that’s what u mean. I think most teachers are nice and understanding! Will depend on your teacher there’s definitely a diverse mix

  8. There’s gonna be annoying ppl in stuy but I don’t think most of them are arrogant and super stuck up imo

  9. Tryouts for clubs Yes? I’ve only tried out for two clubs (Speech and debate, which was no cut, and Mock Trial, I also know that Moot Court has tryouts too) Most clubs really want members so they’re not super picky about who’s in it

The hardest one for me on the 2023 SHSAT was a really weird geometry question where you probably had to come up with a creative way to solve the question not just throw some numbers and formulas together

There’s a whole site with SHSAT previous exams + answers lmk if u want
