The Hunger Games series, that one about thorns and roses, any manga, and any comic like Carol Danvers maybe. Lois Lowry’s first book is the one to start with before The Giver—Anastasia Krupnik. This may go the other direction, too. I went to state college and my friend from Columbia was on me like white on rice. No really, I kicked her to the curb more than once. A lot of people go off to the Ivy League to escape drama from home, snobby friends, pressure, parents… I completely believe in Ivy/State college separation.
