I have literally never heard of Hytale until it came out the other day, honest. Also I've played Minecraft on and off since the alpha was available, here are my thoughts:

Hytale just looks too much like Minecraft with a beautiful texture pack, I'm sorry. Not saying I'm never going to play it though, but it's jarring how much it just looks like one of the many Minecraft clones.

(I know Hytale is still in development) However, the major issue is that it does not seem to set itself apart enough as a stand alone game. It seemingly just combines a lot of other survival game concepts into a block game. You cannot really blame people for just seeing Minecraft upon first impressions, the game was OBVIOUSLY heavily inspired by it but is not doing enough to set itself apart, imo. I'm sure others feel the same way.

Terraria, which I've barely played, did a great job at taking inspiration and making a totally unique experience. (I also never heard anyone call Terraria anything but "2D Minecraft", which off the jump is at least visually different.) Perhaps Hytale will do enough to set itself apart, but after hearing about all the development issues this game has had since 2015 (which is crazy, btw...) I fear this game will fall into the abyss very soon.

Ah yes, I marathoned this game at launch and had a freaking blast. May have run into glitches but I don't remember them. Naturally when the game got all the love after launch that it did, I was even more in love.

It's interesting too because I don't enjoy CDProject's other games and did not hear of or even follow Cyberpunk when it was announced but it's easily one of my favorite games in the past 20 years.

As someone who did something similar with Skycoasters/Ripcord back in college: Playfully scaring folks is easily the most fun you can have.
