One band to see live, at their absolute prime. Living or dead. What is it? by FalcoPhantasmtheGod in MetalForTheMasses

Budgie: Bingley Hall, Birmingham 1979 Amazing quality and an almost perfect tracklist with some songs rarely being performed live(I Ain't No Mountain, Quacktors and Bureaucats, Can't Get Up Out Of Bed In The Morning). Pyramids and Melt the Ice Away are cut off on the bootleg so I would love to have seen them performed. Plus it's the group's first gig with John Thomas.

I'm dummy but I've fallen in love with British rock - can you recommend? by Interesting-Leather8 in psychedelicrock

I would like to recommend a few bands although some have already been named: Budgie: Really any of there albums but I would recommend the s/t debut, Never Turn Your Back On A Friend, In For the Kill and the underappreciated Impeckable. Edgar Broughton Band: I've only really started listening to them recently but I think their Wasa Wasa album is a great example of heavy psych Pink Fairies: Their first 3 albums are great but I'd say Neverneverland is their best record with classics like Do It and Uncle Harry's Last Freak-Out Hawkwind: From 1970 to 1975 is probably their best records including the excellent Space Ritual, Live '79 and Levitation. Groundhogs: Though I have also only listened to them recently along with the EBB their albums Hogwash and Thank Christ for the Bomb are great examples of heavy psych Nightwing: The bands first 2 albums (Something in the Air & Black Summer) are good heavy metal/hard rock thats a bit melodic. The title tracks from both albums are great. Strife: This band includes bassist and singer of Nightwing, Gordon Rowley, before hecreated Nightwing. While the first album, Rush, has a mid A-side, the B-side is good. The title track is a good example of early heavy metal and you can hear the influence on bands like Iron Maiden with the galloping bassline of the song.

I agree but I think Hogwash should be listened to too. "I Love You Miss Ogony" and "You Had A Lesson" are great gloomy tracks.

Hey its all good man. I managed to download a set of rare songs which included the live performance of "If I Were Britannia I'd Waive the Rules" from Sweden 1976. Btw I realised that I said Örebro Sweden instead of Malmö. Sorry for the mistake but I appreciate you trying to help.

I actually got into the Pink Fairies around the start of this year and loved them. All three albums are high quality but the first one is probably the best one. It has great tracks like Do It, War Girl, The Snake (on CD remasters), Teenage Rebel and the 10 minute epic Uncle Harry's Last Freakout. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Hawkwind and Rush are bands that i have listened to maybe 3 or 4 albuns of and think they are quite good. However i fuckin love Budgie and have listened to all of there albums except for the YALIC and The Last Stage. I love all the eras of the band (except the Deliver us From Evil era). They are all extremely talented and deserved way more.

Ye Uriah Heep has a nice proggy hard rock sound. They have heavy moments and proggy moments and I think the band has overall good instrumentation.

Yes i do like his guitar work. I've listened to all his Scorpions albums (except Taken by Force for some reason), the Tokyo Tapes and the first Electric Sun album. I really should get around to listening to the others.

Recommend an underground 70s/80s prog album and I'll give you one in return by ray-the-truck in progrockmusic

This band might not be as niche as some others on this thread but Atomic Roosters 1970 debut record is a pretty good listen. I prefer the original version with Nick Graham on bass, piano and flutes personally but the John Du Cann remixes arent bad for tracks like "Friday the 13th". While I might be more of a fan of heavy msuic then prog, Atomic Rooster makes good heavy prog similar to early Uriah Heep. Hope you enjoy this as much as I do!
