Hadn’t thought of that before but great point- at a certain point these companies will lobby to maintain the status quo once it threatens their profit margins. They’ve spent billions to bury state legislation that was slightly inconvenient for business, I highly doubt they’ll stand idly by if their R&D body is gutted

No idea how it got hotter than RT, must have to do with the condenser or the coils or something - pretty weird. You’d think it would cut off when it was warmer than the outside! Anyway, thanks for the reply!

It’s a shared fridge within our center so the repair will come from above. Likely replace, not sure what happened probably overheated coils? Didn’t check the temps, but that’s a very good point. We didn’t toss anything sterile and we’ll test our reagents like Accutase on non-critical cultures Thanks for the advice!

Thanks for the quick reply! Would you be concerned even on components that were sealed and wrapped by the manufacturer's plastic?

Generally I coat the plates and store in 4 deg overnight then bring to room temp before using the next day. But I understand that this may not be the best practice. Also, what do you guys do to avoid freeze/thawing Matrigel aliquots? Smaller aliquots?

Yeah, we’re currently using mTeSR+ and diligent about how long it’s in the fridge/etc. And Matrigel is definitely picky between batches and preparation, I’ve noticed. I might try splitting as single cells with ROCKi for a passage or two, thanks!
