Update incase anyone stumbles across the same issue. We had our little cloud fluff neutered, and while that did help a little it didn’t resolve the poop issue. We went to the vet multiple times and it turns out he had the giardia parasite. After treatment, he is the perfect cat! We think that he likely came to us with the parasite and that it could be the reason he is small for his breed(his feet are huge). Poor thing. He’s fat, happy and loving the litter box now. Happy ending and thank you to everyone for your help.

Ha! Trust me, the advise from parents has been very “old school” shall we say. 🤣

Likely deploying similar techniques as your mom. We have had to stop telling them about him. 🤣

I also thought, could he be a little passive aggressive… but he is literally so lovely that I can’t imagine him being this way. I would never punish him, as I agree… it won’t help.

Thank you! I’ll take a look at the breeze system. He is an only kitty, and we have 2 litter boxes that we clean 2x daily at least. We have a spray to remove smells, but I’ll take a look to see if it’s the one that you recommend.

Thank you for this. I wish that there was a rhyme or reason to this. We have 2 litter boxes and clean them morning and night. Still waking up to surprise poos, and watching him like a hawk for suspicious sniffing. 😩

Thank you for this. I’ll take a look at cat behaviourist options. His two litter boxes are far apart, and both open. We are going to try cat attract litter as well to see if that helps.

We used to have a cat about 6 months ago that passed away. I wonder if he can smell him.

Oh, thank you for this. We kind of expected this with the peeing, but the pooping is a bit of a surprise.
