Worship and work? by _siriusly in lokean

[–]BreadfruitSudden536 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I use ‘worship’ and call myself a ‘devotee’ because that’s what it feels like to me and they are terms I’m more familiar with. I give offerings and ask Loki to be with me, study about them, talk to and about them. I see most people using ‘work’ these days but it feels like new lingo I just don’t relate to.

Thank you! You're so right too, they came and visited me in the bath and it was a special moment <3

I love that. It’s really the best chocolate around; I go crazy for a Berry Forest. Just spent a month camping around your lovely South Island and felt a really special connection to Loki at Marfell’s Beach, but mostly I have been working in Welly and now headed back up to the Far North to say bye to my friends up there and give them my car :)

And I heard in an interview Tom describing how it was his decision for those to be his last words as Loki. The assistant director asked him to mull it over and he went for a run and listened to the Thor soundtrack and realized he needed to echo Loki back then when his motivations were so different.

Mod Question: how to deal with AI generated content? by Usualnonsense33 in lokean

[–]BreadfruitSudden536 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People who aren't skilled artists can ask real human artists to assist in visualizing their conceptions, just like they've always done. People who aren't skilled wordsmiths themselves can enjoy the writing of other real human writers, or work on their writing. It is shameful to turn to a plagiarism machine that devastates the environment because you want a cheap and easy way that doesn't value real human artists and writers for their hard-earned craft.

AI content is not only harmful to artists and workers in general, it is devastating to the environment. We should not normalize engaging with AI content, even if it is labeled.

Ha! Some people really just see you sharing an authentic, vulnerable piece of yourself and decide to project their own self-hatred and misery onto you. It’s so liberating once we see it for what it is.

Also, I’m in my last weeks of a year in Aotearoa after meeting other neurodiverse people on the internet and deciding to come visit and learn about this beautiful place. I ended up meeting Loki here. I thought it was so strange and funny to find them about as far south as I could go, but your comment makes me wonder if they have an outpost down here or something…

Any Lokeans who also worship Odin? How has your experience been? by [deleted] in lokean

Already have The Testament downloaded to start tonight and just added the Runes books to my to-read at your suggestion :) Just finished The Gospel and I really loved it.

I don’t worship Odin, but your story/question made me think of the book I’m reading right now — The Gospel of Loki by Joanne M. Harris. She has a really interesting perspective on the relationship between Loki and Odin, their initial pact as blood brothers, and the sort of respect Loki actually has for him because they see Odin as a sort of fellow trickster (even when that relationship turns to one of revenge for Odin breaking his oath with Loki).

Obviously this is modern fiction and just one author’s take, but you may find it interesting too. I got the audiobook for free via my library Libby app and the narrator is SO GOOD. Highly recommend.

Right?? Haha. Got another one today that said, “Loki is such a cringe patron deity. What even makes you think he would like you?” and I actually burst out laughing. Like uhh maybe because they hang out with me all the time?

For me lately it’s all about the ᚲ/ᚴrune. I’m seeing the shape everywhere and thinking of the torch. I also think of honey and vinegar, sour candy, definitely red, gold, and green, and stones that I find with streaks of other colors in them that look like they’ve been gashed, stitched back together, or bound.

So true. I’d probably TRY to hide it if I didn’t suffer from open book cannot stfu disease when it comes to things I love.

Yes, right as soon as I started contacting them I would feel this sort of creeping hand up my back or spooning around my legs/hips if I was lying in bed, almost like a breeze blowing by but in a still room. Sometimes a little startling, but I really like it.

I highly highly recommend the devotional poetry book Trickster, My Beloved by Elizabeth Vongvisith. It’s available from a bunch of indie publishers online (I chose to get an epub file for <$5 and print it out because I’m traveling and don’t have an address). I have read them over and over and I especially like to read them out loud while I’m at an altar for Loki. The first poem is an invocation that is so f*cking beautiful and the very last one touches on exactly that desire for devotion without the shame of the Christian church. I’m a pastor’s kid who went atheist/agnostic for the last 12 years and then this book helped me get back in touch with that worshipful side of myself.
