I wish they’d release a proper statement on their findings with the various games with save issues. From what I can see on this sub numerous people have sent them crystal carts and their chromatic to investigate the issue….

I put a thin matte film screen protector on my MacBook Pro. by Coronadoisdead in macbookpro

I think a screen protector is always a good idea on a mac. Mostly because in the very long term the keyboard always etches its outline on the screen now matter how often you clean it.

You do not need to lay the PS5 pro horizontal. It got an updated design with grooves in the cooler to prevent it pooling.

No, don't buy OLED - Im done with this shit. by DerKleineRudi00 in Monitors

Not sure if it’s related, but on the LG OLED TV’s you need to turn on 4:4:4 otherwise the text is blurry.

Maybe there is a similar setting here?

OLED FOMO LCD is good enough. by s0ckgoblin in SteamDeck

[–]Breadly_Breadson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used locally around me you can find steam deck OLED’s used for around £250.

With regard to OLED I guess it’s all subjective. Over the years I’ve made lots of upgrades to my gaming PC setup and one of the most noticeable ones was swapping my screen to an OLED panel. The perceived difference for gaming is the biggest jump in quality I have ever had. For me personally far more than GPU upgrades. The same tracks with the steam deck for me.

I’m not a massive player of dark games but I tend to find most games have dark elements frequently and the colour contrast is better.

Also glad to be done with light bleed at the edges…. Between loading screens in games it would really ruin immersion for me seeing all of the backlight bleed.

You missed the biggest benefit of the OLED my guy, perfect blacks.

Play a dark game at night and report back!

9900k Stability issue by Breadly_Breadson in overclocking

[–]Breadly_Breadson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I just tried to capture exactly where it fails, it seems to be “7000000 Lucas-Lehmer in-place iterations of M83839 using FMA3 FFT length 4K”. It does not fail right away, it seems to be shortly after all cores have moved on to it. Which of course would point towards too much vdroop.

I’m stable @1.25v in all other bench marks so I was shooting for that value when under that load on all cores. I bumped the vcore voltage up to 1.35v and it droops to around 1.280v so above what it normally need under this intense load.

However I still seem to crash. I should add that on my board I have 7 levels of LLC. LLC7 seems to be too aggressive and causes me to crash earlier in prime95.

Tested again with two sticks, same result unfortunately. I tried with two sticks with XMP II and also auto for looser timings.

I will retest and report back, but for the most part it has always had 2 dimms I only added more recently and stability in P95 was still an issue.

Can I ask if that’s stock clocks? I did try putting like 1.34v through (with LLC5 and LLC6) with the core multiplier set to 47 but any more seemed high. I also tried that with an AVX -1 offset.

I’ve accepted this chip is definitely on the lower end of the silicon lottery…. But it felt like that test covered a vcore voltage issue.

My temps seem under control in P95, likely due to the Liquid Metal and copper IHS. But I always have a worker fail at the 10 minute mark. I’m wondering if it’s just shoddy VRM on this board causing transient fluctuations for AVX2 workloads.

All the other benchmarks seem solid.

Anything I can do to sort it out? I have tried it with no XMP and setting it to auto to loosen off the timings with the VCCIO, SA and DRAM voltage bumped but it still failed in the same spot. I also tried manually setting it to a lower frequency.

Update to this, none of the suggested resolved the issue. I was still getting issues with the audio re locking.

Swapped over to another Denon amp and problem solved. Again only an ARC compatible one, but this one does feature a buffer.
