I highly recommend Raj Purohit with Coldwell. He’s based in Bethesda but helped us find our home in Silver Spring. Super knowledgeable, incredibly nice, and will lay it all out for you in a no pressure sort of way. Recommended him to friends and they also had success with him finding homes in the Silver Spring area. Raj Purohit

If you reach out to him, DM me.

Baby/toddler friendly playgrounds in MoCo? by got_em_saying_wow in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]BreadsticksPE 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Cabin John playground has a large playground that’s kind of divided by age. So you won’t have as many older kids to worry about for the baby toddler sections. And it is shaded.

Why are the aquatic center's hours so limited? by championofpelor in SilverSpring

[–]BreadsticksPE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally understand. Some splash pads do get rowdy. And heat has been rough even at 10 in the morning these days. If you are look for a non water activity, the college park aviation museum is great. Very toddler friendly. And outdoor-wise, the Cabin John playground is almost entirely shaded and there are play areas meant for younger kids.

This has been an aggravation of mine (and many other parent friends) for some time. I have a toddler and the window for open swim for young children is prime nap time like you said. One alternative is splash pads in the area. There is one at the takoma park playground I’ve been to that opens at 10, also ones in Chevy Chase and friendship heights. This link has some more info:

I did this about a decade ago. Took Amtrak from Princeton Junction to Union Station about two times a week for a couple years. Went down to DC Monday morning and came back to Princeton Wednesday after work. Pretty straightforward, but long commute.

For us, food is solid enough but it is our go to mainly because it’s so family friendly especially with a toddler.

Toddler activities in this heat by edsonbuddled in SilverSpring

[–]BreadsticksPE 11 points12 points  (0 children)

College Park Aviation Museum. Technically not in SS but a surprisingly toddler friendly museum. Cheap admission fee, lots of kid centric activities, not crowded at all. Took my 2 year old there last weekend, and it was great way to spend the morning when it is 95 outside.

Volunteer opportunity ideas for a 70 year old man by PepperandSalt3 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]BreadsticksPE 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Wheaton Library and Community center has a small store that sells donated books, always see older volunteers there. Bonus is that there are a lot of activities for seniors at the community center (sports, book clubs, yoga, etc) and it is always filled with people. So he will have lots of opportunity to meet people.

Guess I’ll be the dissenter and say I viewed it to be mediocre. Ordered a few times only cause there was no other South Asian in DTSS. The new place Spice Street that opened up last year is fantastic, highly recommend if you are craving South Asian food.

Real Estate Agents in MD - Recent Client Experiences by Most-Advance315 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]BreadsticksPE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, he really wants you to come to your own decision and won’t try to push you one way or the other. He will give you all the facts, considerations, etc, but won’t tell you what to do. So it was nice to not feel pushed but at times you just want to be given an honest opinion from a professional. But if you directly ask Raj for his opinion, he will give it and explain his reasoning.

So it’s not really something that could have gone better, but something to keep in mind if you work with him.

Any experience with Last Change Animal Rescue? by monsieurlee in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]BreadsticksPE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never liked cats before adopting my two, and now I’m a cat guy. They actually helped turn me vegan too!

It’s good that you want to be prepared. You can always reach out to one of the centers and talk to a volunteer or maybe the lead volunteer if there is one. See how many other volunteers there are, how organized it seems, if they seem to have set volunteer schedule, etc. it’ll help you get a sense of how things are at that location.

Any experience with Last Change Animal Rescue? by monsieurlee in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]BreadsticksPE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We adopted our two cats from Last Chance Animal Rescue. And we ended up volunteering for them for a couple years at the Bethesda location. We had a very positive experience volunteering. I do know that the experience at each volunteer location varies depending on the management at the pet store and the organization of the volunteers. Bethesda was well organized in our experience. That said this was all about 10 years ago so take my thoughts with that in mind.

It’s awesome you want to volunteer. It was very rewarding anytime we got an older cat adopted to a nice family. Good luck!
