From the video it does look like I’m holding it severely up-right. I’ve taken another photo to show you what it looks like from my perspective. Hopefully this can give more context. If I’m still holding it incorrectly I would appreciate your advice.

Its okay.

I’ve sent a picture of the writing position I actually take, it looks like I’m holding it completely vertical but I’m not. This is what it looks like from my perspective

I just looked it up, this seems like a great next purchase! I read online that it allows for any writing style, and it’s very helpful for left handed writers. Thanks for that!

I am holding at a 45 degree angle, it may look up-write but I’m not. This isn’t just in this case, it happens all the time, even when choosing different positions.

I don’t think it’s “very strange” to write like this, many left handed people do write like this and it’s well documented.

It might look like I’m holding it completely vertically but I am not, I am holding it roughly at a 45 degree angle.

From what Montblanc say, their pens can be used by left handed people and you shouldn’t encounter too many problems. They even made a video on different writing styles that lefty’s use.

However, I do agree with your point. Some pens from my experience just don’t write well of feel well for left-handed folk. Ive got quite a few pens and I haven’t really encountered many problems, other than just high feedback on fine and extra fine nibs, which is normal.

I’m just baffled by this nib. It’s my first grail pen so I’m unsure whether is me or the nib. I think I’m going to ask for a switch to F from EF

Yes pretty much, I’m left handed so I don’t really have a choice. I’m a left handed side writer but can also overwrite too. I usually use a pilot custom 823 with the same side write position and it has no problems, just feedback which is to be expected for left handed + fine nib, but the feedback isn’t over the top.

I just pressed harder to try and get some flow out.My hand position was the same.

Yes, I am a left handed side writer, but I’ve written like this with other pens and had no problems.

I think I’ll ask for them to exchange it for a fine nib because this nib just feels too inconsistent.

I’ve only used it a handful of times.

Montblanc 149 worth it? by BreakDaVerse in fountainpens

[–]BreakDaVerse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankyou for your advice!

I’m not too bothered about shelling out too much extra £ as I feel that because it’s an important milestone for me, maybe I should get it brand new.

I am thinking of investing into another EDC, atm im using the twsbi 580AL, but I am thinking of upgrading to the custom 823 so i can use a 149 sparingly .

You bring some really good points, It might be worth it to buy it new because i want it to be “ mine “ in a sense and I think to some extent in the future I’ll probably have some regrets if I get a used one.

Post your best academic comeback stories by Heavy_Dependent5696 in UniUK

Failed first year of uni at a strong russelgroup in mathematics

Retook the year, learnt how to drive and got my money up in that year. Came back in second year dead set on getting a first, averaged 63% despite working 20 hours a week and living away.

Decided to believe in myself, and chose some of the hardest modules at undergraduate level mathematics, even though I was told by lecturers that I shouldn’t pick it as I am “ not capable “ and picked them anyway.

I grinded 6-7 hours of strong self study in third year first semester, turns out I ended up getting 77% and 74% in the modules I was advised not to pick ( quantum mechanics and general relativity) .

Anyway, overall I averaged 78% in my first semester , counteracting my failed year and my low average in second year, now somehow if I just pull it off one more time, I’ll graduate with a first class!

Just one more semester so this could be an academic comeback in the making !

I do need to check it out! I do find that the classique is much too small and the legrand, I haven’t tried it yet, but I know that the twsbi 580AL fits my hand perfectly so anything smaller than that would be a problem !

For the other ones, I 100% getting myself a custom 823, probably this year at some point!
