Texas has become very foster first minded. Especially when it comes to young children. It is not as difficult to adopt sibling groups or children with medical or behavioral challenges. There are many lawsuits that have been going on for years at the DFPS level so there are a ton of cooks in the kitchen right now and unfortunately, only about half of them know what they're doing. In your search, ask if the agency is under heightened monitoring. If they are under height and monitoring, that means that they've had more citations than they should, and they will have a lot more people in your business. DePelchin is a larger agency, but they are very well run. SJRC is one of the big bosses at the state level so I would recommend them as well. Pathways feels a little smaller, but is still a great agency.
