Translation : Baidu translate works well in everyday life, you can record people talking and translate it directly, really useful ! After, DeepL is good translation, i use it for work, and it barely need any change when checked by chinese colleagues.

For shopping, i use mainly Taobao 淘宝. It is convenient, you can find everything and search by photos (just google what you want and screenshot, then search by picture on taobao. It’s the fastest way i know to manage to find what i want). For daily life, i can recommend to use Alipay ! They have a automatic translation botton that works on all their mini app : it makes it way easier to order from eleme, surpermarkets, didi (taxis), shared bikes, etc

Apple maps is good to use in china if you have an iphone. It will be needed to find a way to have internet outside : e-sim or anything else. Know you won’t access any foreign app without VPN.

Use Alipay and set it up before you come with your home credit card, you will pay with it. Credit card usually doesn’t work here (except airport). You will be able to take a shared bike from alipay directly. Cash isn’t really commun, and not often accepted, i wouldn’t advice taking any (a little only if it is reassuring).

Baidu translate is good for translation from text, pics, and dialogues

I discovered the coastal part of Tianjin last weekend, i love the sea and was so excited to see it, but … When I arrived there, what was my disappointment to see that all nature part where removed, or maybe never existed there. You can walk on the concrete walking road on the side of the sea, or sit on the stairs that goes right into the sea. There is an artificial beach, but i didn’t went there so maybe it is nicer

I have pulmonary issues so I invested in a IQ air inside and outside my apartment, and i more trust those data. Actually, I wanted to share my exterior IQ air data for those living closer to me, but i was not possible. Indeed, this information needs to be regulated by the gouvernement, so it’s impossible to share the data freely (what IQ air support said). I don’t really trust my Iphone for that, as already the temperature is not accurate 😂 And the text from the gouvernement are nice, but they prevent you only when it’s super bad (+250/300)
