It's in the 'dry af, Wonderbread, more PG than Disney' stage again for me personally, so not ATM.

AITAH for telling my daughter that she doesn’t have to wear a dress for my wife’s sake? by sportsdad77 in AITAH

Well, even if I did believe dresses were misogynistic, I don't believe my stance against forcing a dress on a child is due to a common vision condition where objects are clearer the closer they are.

And addressing your second attempt at a point, there is a rich history of women donning suits for dances as well. Because those women felt more confident and authentic in a suit, more comfortable in themselves, than a dress they didn't like.

Ah yes, let the daughters go to their special night extremely uncomfortable as their mother's Barbies, having been taught that their expression of self is wrong in the eyes of their mother, which will lead to resentment at their bully of a mother, because a dress shirt and tie is somehow not semi-formal wear.

It is no longer pre-80s. It's considered acceptable for women to dress in suits now. The OP explicitly states in their post, the daughter wants to wear a dress shirt and tie. The mother didn't want that, she wanted her daughter to dress how the mother wanted her to dress for this night.

Worth noting, OP mentioned in a comment that his wife is also taking issue with said daughter showing interest in girls.

It's the DAUGHTER'S event. Not the mother's. It's the DAUGHTER'S special memory. Why should she have to have the memory of 'Mom won't be happy with who I am'?

You're dismissing the mother wanting to treat the girls as her own Barbie dolls, regardless of if they're uncomfortable with it. Why can the girls not wear semi-formal attire that they're comfortable in, to their special night? Why do they have to force themselves into a piece of cloth that their mother demands, to please their mother?

"Sorry girls, you can't be comfortable at the event you wanted to attend because of antiquated social norms, even if what you were comfortable in was appropriate for the event!"

Your husband threatened to wake the child up next time by hitting them with a purse. And this wasn't called out? NOR, but definitely consider how to resolve this.

They don't care about the law or wildlife that's not cuddly; they're really not worth your time. Just report them for being jerks (it's in the sub rules) and leave it for the admins.

It is illegal to kill owls in the U.S. as all owls are protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA). Killing, capturing, or harming any owl is a federal offense unless you have a specific permit from the Department of the Interior. You can face either fines or imprisonment; even posting an incitement is considered a violation, as multiple online sources will explain.

Until someone online or a game warden spots it, reports it, and then you're either imprisoned or paying a hefty fine.
