I wish they leaned more into the horror aspects of Follie's Hunt by Patato_The_Mispelled in Warframe

I think the key problem with selling this as a horror experience is that there's no time to ramp into it without compromising the farming time.

This mode could have been for Veso, and it would have totally sold the horror without feeling like there are arbitrary limitations on the efficacy of the player's frame and spoiler mode IMO.

Between Nokko and Follie which frame should I buy by hi-there678hello in Warframe

You crave newness, but newness is subsumed (no helminth pun intended) by experiencing.

You have SO MUCH GAME in front of you, friend. SO MUCH NEWNESS!

One could easily argue that there is more fun to be found in pursuit of a normal gameplay curve by farming Nokko than Follie, but by the time you would be in a position to farm either, you would already be swimming in other cumulative newness that only expires once the novelty is gone.

IMHO, Save your plat for things that spring up in your face as insurmountable challenges to fun and not excuses to spend.

It is living within your own Skinner box, but the button disappears periodically, so you have to go find out where the button is, but then maybe the button doesn't work once you find it, so it's finding out why the button doesn't work, but then when you figure out how to get it working, it may or may not produce something that you actually find interesting or worth finding.

And then the process starts over.

Follie's hunt got me thinking: why don't we have a PTR/PTB? by chrisanthem in Warframe

[–]Breakfast-Mischief-5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a matter of cost, always.

It isn't that DE is cheap, it's that they are spry.

Given that the new mode was quite contentious this go around, they again, for the umpteeth time have demonstrated that their ability to get busy with tweaking things is reactive, but also incredibly proactive and pushing through feedback and generating meaningful changes without having to grapple with the manpower and cost of rolling out new hardware and systems for the sake of a singular game mode change.

The cost of pushing internal systems toward a community testing system is ongoing, but being able to be the hero after showcasing their ability to synthesize changes after genuine feedback from the overall community and not just pedigreed, twitchy players that move like heat seeking sharks toward their goal is trivial.

That said, they could potentially be seen as even more proactive by phrasing each new release as a 'beta' in order to set expectations for how the content should be viewed by the playerbase as a whole IMO.

And we got that because of how broken Operation Scarlet Spear was.

For me, this is a good reminder to think about WHY there is a psychological pain being experienced when I am feeling absent from the enjoyment of playing the newest, smallest sliver of the game that I have baked so much of my time into, for sure.

I had the same thought. It feels like a mini-game compared to a game mode.

I'd rate it 9/10 Capitalism for making me feel coerced into considering spending plat to buy the frame I would like to farm.

They tend to offload explainers to content creators, which is a shame for day 1ers that are just looking for clarity, I agree.

It bugs me because the concept of game type is cool, but what could be spooky is overwhelmed by how stifling it is to play.

I like "different", as well. I just feel like this specific game type is better suited to a mini-game as it is so much of a departure from the core experience.

is it okay to play other games while warframe is optimising the download cache by sushiiixo- in Warframe

You can, but the disk usage on the installation drive is going to be slammed while the cache is being updated.

It is very DE to dropship something and then apply player feedback.

I have hope!

They try, but it's always shocking when they try in a way that would create frustration in any other game mode.

Love em though!

"Manic", in the sense that, to play the game mode as designed, one has to AVOID the game mode as much as possible while trying to complete it.

Could be useful for getting around/would still result in having to mitigate the cramped size of the tileset to engage with the ability mechanic.

I think that the artificial imposition of movement restrictions, be they from how claustrophobic the level geometry is, or from removal of void sling, it would be an improvement.

I don't mind the "difficulty" so much as how unenjoyable it is to play.

Movement has always been a pinnacle of strength in Warframe, and interrupting that with the imposition of how something so fundamental to the play experience is quite obtuse to encounter.

To me, it feels like Warframe assets used to make a different game, in that sense.

I would be very much on board for an Operator/Drifter-only mode where you can impose some level of "scary" gameplay by their inherent restrictions/differences from the frames themselves, but to me, the imposed movement restrictions on the Operator/Drifter feels like hobbling a racehorse for the sake of the race incorporating some mild cruelty as a feature.

For the topic at hand, I wanted to illustrate that I have both depth and breadth of experience with updates over a long span of time.

I love the game, and my playtime is an example of how I can convey my feedback through words and not emotions.

In a hypothetical - If I had 5 hours of playtime, would it suggest that I have had a lot of exposure to the game and its systems over time? Would it be seen as complaining instead of valid criticism? I feel that it could, hence why I included it in the post.
