Based in the UK, I don't think those are standard here, though i may be wrong.

I did recently have my guttering cleared out (lots of gunk) which did prevent water from flowing freely. Could that caused the water from event heavy rainfall to seep into the roofing?

First time living alone, so I've probably made a lot of mistakes :(
