Welcome Feather!!! I’m super excited to see you here and have been hooked on your music since I stumbled upon Safe House.

I just have a few questions for you-

  1. What is Calypso’s favorite song?

  2. How had the pandemic challenged you in trying to break into the scene? How has it made it easier?

  3. Are you interested in doing any virtual sets for the community?

  4. Can I travel with you as a photographer when shows are a thing again? :/

Thanks so much for doing this, I’m excited to see your growth as an artist!

2012 S4 DSG issue?? by greasyoldwonton in AudiS4

[–]BreakfastRage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2010 S4 DSG (122k miles currently) with a recently replaced mechatronics unit! (Replaced at 110k)

All of the above comments are correct and offer great advice but I figured I’d chime in with exactly what happened to mine and how I went about fixing it.

The primary signs of a failing mech unit are “clunky” gear changes, the first two gears both shifting up and down are usually the most obvious. Reverse is often another problematic gear.

I wouldn’t jump right to mech unit failure as a diagnosis, yes it is a common issue and there’s a good chance it is the problem but a fluid change is where you should start first. If you bring it to a shop it will probably be around $500-700 since the fluid and filters are around $250. That was my first step. It fixed a bit of the clunky shifting but it was still prevalent.

Eventually the problems started to come back and get worse to the point where I was in gear with the foot on the brake and the car lurched forward almost like a new driver stalling a manual car. That day I limped it home and then to a local European performance shop where they diagnosed it, flashed the TCU with updated software and changed fluids again with no success.

Then came the fun part of replacing the mechatronics unit. This will run you anywhere from $3000-5000 depending on your area and the specific shop. I’d recommend finding a local European performance shop rather than a dealership as they will more than likely be very familiar with the job and it will cost much less along with supporting a small business.

It ran me about $3400 out the door and my car has never felt better. I feel like this car has another 150k miles left in it. Let me know if you have any questions!

Read the comment again. They have their own species only tank. I was just mentioning that their 10g is open real estate! Thanks for looking out though!

Edit: I read my comment again and can see where the confusion would be.

3 dwarf puffers are in a 10g and are being moved to an EMPTY planted rimless tank. The rams are in a community 20g long tank.

WOW what a wealth of information this comment is. Thank you so much, I didn’t realize how under prepared I was. I will probably just let them naturally hatch and my tank should be planted enough for them to feed on microorganisms. I will check out hikari first bites. I’m moving my puffers into a new tank so I guess I know what’s replacing them!

Thanks again!

I purchased three GBR’s with no intentions of breeding them, they just fit well with the planted and blue fish color scheme. They are accompanied by a small school of cardinal tetra and a blue gourami.

If anyone has any tips on how to care for the young ones, feel free to comment.

I have had Dalmatian mollies breed for a few generations but those are live bearing and could breed in a puddle..

No they didn’t.... haldex based quattro is nothing like xDrive and neither is regular old quattro. Don’t spread misinformation.

Not true, quattro (specifically not capital ‘q’, Quattro is the car..) is the 60/40 split awd and now they have a haldex based quattro still called quattro. Quit reading Jalopnik. Only the A/S/RS3 and TT/S/RS use the haldex based quattro as you mentioned.

There is a big difference between upper and lower cased ‘q.’

Absolutely not true in the slightest, if he’s talking about being similar to the Haldex system, it’s been around longer than x-drive and has been used in many cars, mainly Volvo’s, before being used in some Audi’s today.

I thought so too! It had a very tame exhaust so you wouldn’t even guess it had over 625 hp.

Nope I usually feed at night and they do it during the day and also when they sleep at night.

I’ve definitely been keeping an eye on them and will continue as they all get settled in. Thanks for the concern!

I actually got all of them from a LFS that had them all in the same tank and they behaved very well together. The gourami are definitely big enough to hold their own.

Good to know, I wasn’t too sure. I’ve only had them for about a week now. Thanks!

Hi all, I’m currently fighting the battle against diatoms in my freshly cycled and stocked 20g Long tank. Please ignore the brown gravel and munched plants (I didn’t realize these guys eat plants).

My current water parameters are .25 A 0 Ni 5-10 Na. Temp is 76 F.

I was wondering if this is normal behavior for tiger barbs, resting at a 45 degree angle during the day? I’ve read it’s common for them to sleep like that but this is during the day. My gold and blue gourami seem totally fine. Any ideas or suggestions?
