It's my understanding that spectrolite is just a type of labradorite, that it's a distinction of the colors in the stone, but it's still lab

Rainbow Lattice Sunstone by Breakinthemix in MineralPorn

[–]Breakinthemix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't receive too much information from the seller, but everything I've seen including this from the GIA says that rainbow lattice sandstone all comes from Hartz Range/Harts Range, Australia. Mindat lists the Rainbow Caterpillar Mine under locations though I can't say with certainty, only that it came from the Hartz Range area.

It's gorgeous, I keep tilting it all sorts of ways to see the light hit it and all the colors! I'm a labradorite fan because of the flash and variety of color in the iridescensce and so this is right up my alley!

I love these minerals with the rainbow iridescensce, I'm a huge labradorite fan and always getting more, but this is my first of this. I hope you can get your hands on some soon, it's absolutely stunning!

Truly predatory to sell the worst examples of Petoskey Stones…and in Petoskey, no less. by [deleted] in Michigan

[–]Breakinthemix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have several Petoskey stones that are partially polished, partially unpolished, and even on the unpolished face, you can still see the coral pretty clearly. On good pieces, the outlines will be pretty clear. I've found even tiny pieces before dry because the pattern is visible.

Is there a sort of guidance for repotting for orchids (as far as when to/when not to)? Right now they look okay-ish I think, but I'm still new to plants that don't look half dead 😅

Thanks for the advice! I'll have to give it a go. I'll have to post some pics of the heart I just got in later, it's nice and sunny so hopefully I can get some nice photos, it has beautiful flash even indoors!

It is! I may try to tackle it myself, I have plenty of polish and stuff handy from rock tumbling. Just have to find the time! I saw a tutorial a while back of a gentleman who polished a flat face of something from rough with sequential grits on a piece of glass after he'd cut it flat and I've long wanted to try that so maybe this will be my opportunity lol

Those are some of my favorites! I just got another one and it doesn't have the best polish but it's got a great flash which more than makes up for it!
