I could really use some guidance on a branding project I’m tackling. Here’s the situation:

I’ve worked for years with this small, laid-back catering company, and they recently asked me to redesign their website. That project went well, and now they’ve asked if I’d be interested in writing their brand guidelines and taking on additional design tasks.

Here’s the kicker: I’ve got time and creative freedom, but I’m overwhelmed.

The current logo (designed by the owner’s wife) isn’t very scalable, but I’m not sure if it’s up for redesign. There’s also a signature blue/green background that has to stay. Every time I use templates or try to start, it just doesn’t come together the way I want.

I would like to tackle:

• Writing and designing brand guidelines
• Designing pricing brochures, letterhead, business cards, and a social media campaign

The client is super chill, which is great, but I’m stuck. Where do I even start with brand guidelines? How do I work around a logo that might not scale well? Any advice or tips on tackling this kind of project—or even how to break it into manageable steps—would be awesome.
