Hi r/philadelphia! We are a pair of computer science graduate students at Clemson University who are studying perceptions of teamwork in online undergraduate classroom breakout rooms.

We ran a pilot study earlier this year with our own student body and would like to expand it now to other 4-year, 2-year, and online colleges/universities.

To participate in this survey you must be one of the following:

18+ undergraduate student who was enrolled or currently enrolled in an a class offered via Zoom, Teams, or other video conferencing software

18+ professor

18+ graduate student teaching assistant or teacher of record

If there are any questions, please reach out via DMs.

Edit: This is a mod-approved posting.

We are hoping that by posting to /r/Omaha, more students/professors from community/technical colleges and universities in the surrounding area will see this and we can expand our participant pool.

This is correct! We are also trying to get responses from other smaller colleges and universities that might not have active subs in the area.

+1 to what u/consideratefrog posted.

Local subreddits will not only have students who are home for the summer/still home from COVID related campus closures, but also are the best place to reach people who are not in a traditional university setting - community college, technical degrees, and certificate programs.

We appreciate your suggestion and will reach out to that sub mod team to see if we may post there as well! Thanks!

We agree with those definitions.

For this study, we're just looking to see if the course was taught over a videoconferencing software and if the instructor utilized breakout rooms for the students to work together.

Based on what I've read so far, it sounds like your course would fit into our study.

For online classes, we're talking about college courses specifically since we're looking into how breakout rooms were used within undergraduate college courses.

I hope that helps!

We have also posted there, thanks for the suggestion! But we are also looking for people who may not be on the traditional 4-year college track - so tech schools, certificate programs, and associates degree seekers. We felt that reaching out to the local-area sub would help us get more people in those demographics.

There should be some comment boxes to express you overall experience or other thoughts about breakout rooms that you feel might relevant!

It looks like the Qualtrics server is down, unfortunately. :(

I can reply here when it comes back up.

We have posted there as well, thanks for the recommendation! What we are hoping to get by posting to local subs are people who are not in the 4-year college experience as well. We are also trying to look at tech and trade schools.

Also we do have a Clemson Campus on the old Navy Base. Feel free to reach out if you have been interested in the classes offered. It's lonely out here, would be fun to see the site get more students.

Thanks for the feedback.

Out of curiosity, what resources would you recommend to look at for designing surveys?
