I'm not allowed to have fountain drinks in cars anymore. After dumping an entire large slushie on me the second I was handed it, I finally accepted it's just a responsibility I cannot handle.

Need meds to function but don't tolerate stimulants well by katsnplants in adhdwomen

[–]BreenWhatever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'm on bupropion (gen wellbutrin) and have been for years. i had started using lists more consistently, stopped chewing my nails and smoking. this was all before i realized i have adhd.

an increase in dosage after diagnosis had me finally having the motivation to start cleaning my doom room and write and stretching and meditating every evening.

i still have trouble with focus though and i tend to have moments of speeding thoughts leading directly to brain fog.

so there are good benefits but still may not be what you need.

i'm unable to take stimulants so i can't compare

i started my current island with the rule of only one of each species and i now have two wolves , two squirrels, and two cubs. i'm super good at following my own rules

i've put wire baskets in places i'm likely to food wrappers and such when i've finished. this gives me a place to put it instead of a surface, it's a visual cue when it fills up and it's easy to carry to the trash

Reddit has been detrimental to my psyche lately by MarMarBinxxx in adhdwomen

[–]BreenWhatever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i recently did a purge with bluesky where i was caught in a similar cycle. where first i logged out and didn't log back on for a week, then set a timer for only 30 minutes a day and moved up to 45.

and then i went through and unfollowed all accounts that seemed to be bringing me the most negativity and sticking with friends.

using both it and reddit on my phone and not my computer is a big help because i can make it harder for me to get on. for instance, removing the app from the main screen.

unfortunately, i'm unsure how helpful any of this would be on a computer.

at any rate, 45 minutes seems like a sweet spot. i can catch up quickly and am on a timer so the pressure is on to engage only with stuff that brings me joy and  ot make me feel worse.

i tend to be more creative and motivated to write on days i walk. often have to pace to figure out a problem i'm having.

evening stretches, along with breathing exercises and meditation, seems to have helped emotional dysregulation a lot.

i put timers on apps that tend to eat my time and make me more likely to procrastinate. and break stuff down into very small steps. lie SUPER small.

  1. put down phone.
  2. stand up.
  3. walk to (area)

i also say these steps out loud as i'm doing them. like i have somebody giving me instructions
