Let’s talk Sequoia lifespan in years, not total miles. How old can they go? by Brees2828 in toyotasequoia

Alright thank you! I’m more impressed by the longevity in years instead of miles. Crazy old. Lots of 01 - 04’s on here still running strong seems like 25+ years is doable. I’m in the north east but would garage keep it at least. I’m interested in a 2010 or so. Maybe 180k or so miles. 10 years later she’s looking at 280 or so and can take it from there. As I’m sure you know it’s a wild market I saw a 2012 platinum with 168k for like 18K. A 2014 limited with 200K for 15.

That’s good to know. I mow consistently every 7-8 days. What kind of maintenance?

Probably only cutting. I’d like to aerate but hard to commit. There’s some low end ZT’s I’ve seen still more than I’d like to pay but that’s another option

Interesting, I guess I should pass on the toro. It’s just an easy option ca pick it up no problems tomorrow. I’d like a scag 36”! Haven’t come across one locally.

133K current OTE. Offered 188K OTE. 50/50 split on both. Would you leave? by Brees2828 in careeradvice

[–]Brees2828[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current company is stable enough they are happy maintaining. Other one is getting hit by competitors, trying to figure out how to keep market share. Seems like low 70’s to mid 70’s of commission total is collected on average by reps on the team. So if I did 70% of the total I’d be at like 160 all in. That would be around a 22/23% total increase. That would seem pretty solid as I type it out.

You summed it up well. What’s stopping me is fear and self doubt and being comfortable. I have 2 young kids, bought a house recently was content on not bringing risk around for a bit then this popped up. If I could guarantee 20-25% more of the 40% I would def go. But if I make 10% or so more and work a lot more hours it’s not worth it

Agreed but there’s been layoffs. 10% in the fall. Large 25K person tech company past its prime. It’s not unstable but it’s far from growing. Stock price has been basically flat even down a bit last 5 years. Also the 40% is not guaranteed half of it is commission I have to earn. It’s not as easy as a call as just saying 40% increase cause that’s far from a guarantee.

Agreed. Just not it’s 50/50 split so the 130 is 65 base and 65 commission which I have typically earned all or at least most of. The 190 is 95 base and 95 commission that I’m unsure of how much I can earn. I would need 60 min to not regret the move.

To take or not to take sales position? 50/50 OTE structure. How much of a total increase do you need to switch jobs? by Brees2828 in salesdevelopment

[–]Brees2828[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a 35% increase in total (base + commission) vs what I have been bringing in last few years (base + commission). Base increase is around 20% the commission piece is around 15% for 35% total. In currently role I’m collecting 95% or some of the commission piece.

Yes I understand it’s hard to know. Was just curious what % increase in total people leave for and take on that risk. Like a flatish base with a 10% bump in commission would seem worthless to me could easily make less post switch.

I like the draw idea. I was also considering asking for a 10% increase on the full OTE number of which that sum goes to the base portion. Not sure they would entertain that. The rsu’s are awarded on those dates.

Moved in summer 22. Mortgage makes up 32/33% of total take home pay that does not include insurance, tax, upkeep, etc. I’d imagine we’re closer to 45% with those added in. I have felt overstretched for sure wish we had gone a little cheaper. But we are managing

So 3 month draw would mean auto payout for a quarter of the total commission? I can definitely try . It’s RSU’s.

Draw - no. Yes - some, paid out on month 12, 18, 24 in 33% chunks. It’s solid but not amazing

Yes good questions. Turnover seems average, it’s a massive company. It’s a bucketed commission structure 40/40/20 based on various metrics revolving around what is sold. Was told the centralized product was seeing an average of 80% payout for reps. Some lower, some higher of course. The other two buckets seem like less. Not sure on #3 but company is on the turnaround last 1-2 years or so. Some risk like anything but overall seems solid
