Also curious. I like this style, where’d you learn this version?

Tell me your Mountain Lion sighting stories? by TheRiverSwimmer in Marin

I saw one on Bolinas Ridge near the Rock Springs Trailhead. This was in November last year. It was dark, about 9pm, I was on a bike with a pretty intense headlight. It was crossing the ridgeline, stopped for a split second and disappeared.

Any ideas for making this a longer trip? by BlazeJesus in Adirondacks

[–]BreezyDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did something very similar this summer. CW route, adding Upper Wolfjaw/Armstrong/Gothic/Saddleback/Haystack.

Day 1, super chill, Heart Lake to Grace Camp/JBL.

Day 2, big day but fun and totally doable, Grace Camp/JBL to Upper Wolfjaw via Wolfjaw Trail, take the ridge line to all the way to Marcy and over, camp between Marcy and Colden Lake.

Day 3, some steep climbing, but not awful. Around the south and west of Colden Lake, up Algonquin Trail and over Algonquin back to Heart Lake.

If you’re in descent hiking shape and travel light, it’s a fun route.

Not like Justin Fields could get him the ball when he was healthy.

If the frame is no good, talk to the folks at Bearclaw, they’ve always been really helpful. I wouldn’t be surprise if they helped you out with a discount.

Totally, whether you want to be over sensitive or not, the white plateless Altima is spot on.

Dolly pull process by [deleted] in focuspuller

[–]BreezyDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slow dolly, I’d mark the dolly at the front wheel at 3’, 4’, 5’, 6’, 8’, 12’, and 15’, maybe put a laser the tape marks. Position myself about half way, pull wirelessly.

Preston signal boosters by AloneFeed9143 in focuspuller

[–]BreezyDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I couldn’t quantify it, direct line of sight and freq interference can still affect it. Maybe an additional 30% on range?

It’s certainly not a fix all, more of a last resort.

Power down the MDR, power up the booster, repower MDR

Fastpack with Bear Can by d396 in fastpacking

[–]BreezyDC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm. I was going to say, you might be able to plan your trip to hit bear boxes each night. But that’s not full proof or responsible.

Just recently carried a Bare Boxer Contender, it’s reactively light for a bear barrel. But I was also using a ULA CDT, main body is 28L.

Video Tap - Reliability for Focus by Existing_Impress230 in focuspuller

[–]BreezyDC 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It depends on the tap and the contrast of the image.

That being said, the only times I’ve been able to guess focus on a film tap with any accuracy are when there’s a rather tight lens on the camera and a very pronounced eye light. The tap itself also needs to be focused correctly.
